Windows 11 Home
Hello,

I am running Windows 11 Home on my HP Envy 17 laptop and Windows Update keeps downloading a previous version of the Intel Iris GPU driver.

Intel Driver & Support Assistant notifies me about a most recent version, I download and install it, but then Windows Update insists on bringing back an older driver.

How can I stop this, please?

I've set the "Device installation settings" to "No" but it does not work. Any ideas?

Thank you, and nice to meet you :)

With attached batch script, you can disable driver updates with Windows Update in Windows 11.

Thank you, but it does not work.

After running the batch file as Administrator, I've clean installed the latest IRIS driver and after rebooting checked for updates. Windows Update brought back the previous driver.

Perhaps I should mention that I bought this new HP Envy 17 (2022) a few days ago and I have clean installed Windows 11 Home.

I know Windows 11 Home does not have the Group Policy Editor. Can I install it for Home? Will it work? Some people say it is just an interface, that the changes are not saved, others say it works and saves the changes but it does not have full functionality as Home are different to Pro.

Hello again,

I'm currently at work so I have not tried everything but what I have tried, so far, has not worked.

- I've tried the batch file and rebooted.

- I've tried the command:
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DriverSearching /v DriverUpdateWizardWuSearchEnabled /t REG_DWORD /d 0x0 /f
and rebooted

- I've tried the command:
Reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DriverSearching /v SearchOrderConfig /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
and rebooted

None of the above had any effect.

I am using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant to download the driver.

I will try the rest of the options, as soon as I can

Where did you install the latest driver from?

You can hide the driver by using Show or hide updates troubleshooter.

OK, so this has actually worked!
I have managed to hide the Intel driver Windows Update was offering! I run the utility, selected the Intel driver, then the Trouble-shooter started, did its thing, and then after checking for updates again, the driver was not offered any more!

Thank you very much!

I will delete the added Registry values, manually.

Can anyone tell me IF the Group Policy Editor works on Windows 11 Home?
