Is there a way to turn hyperthreading on and off other then in the bios?

RE: Assassin's Creed Odyssey - The game now takes 5 minutes to start. Some blame windows and some blame intel anyways, If I disable hyperthreading in the bios the game starts in less than 60 seconds.

I have Intel Extreme Tunining Utility installed but I don't see anything in the gui to do with hyperthreading.

I found a webpage that says it can be done with the command line but they don't mention how to turn it back on.

No, you can only change it from the BIOS menu.

Hyper-Threading is a hardware-only feature. Windows can take advantage of it if it's present & enabled. But it can't managed by Windows settings.

Some compute workloads are helped by HT. Others actually do worse. That's why it's NOT on by default.

Now that I've looked I know that the newest version of XUT doesn't come with the command line utilty :(

I tried that already. For my CPU "start /affinity 7ffffff game.exe" works for my older games that crash on startup due to all the cores. This is a more complicated issue. The game runs fine with hyperthreading on, it just takes 5 times longer to start.

I'm just going to leave it off for now and see if it causes any issues with anything else.

Update:

The only difference I've noticed since disabling hyperthreading other then the one game starting much quicker is that the cpu generates a bit more heat running said game.

Otherwise I've not noticed any differences system wide.

Notes: The i9-14900K CPU has 8 P-Cores + 16 E-Cores. Hyperthreading only runs on the P-Cores when enabled.

Many of the components in my PC came with RGB lighting even though I have a window on one side of my case I don't care for it. However, after discovering I had to use some kind of software to stop my memory sticks from looking like puking unicorns I also learned I could use the RGB as a crude temperature gauge. I set it up to shift from blue to red and I'm basing the increased temperatures on that.
