Solved how to turn memory integrity off in Windows 11 Insider beta

hi,
Windows Defender on this PC was showing signs of not working well. I turned everything on, but memory integrity was off, it was not turning on despite my efforts..so I downloaded a registry fix from this forum, saved it to the desktop, and merged it with the registry, restarted pc, now Windows Defender is on, and memory integrity is also on, but one cant turn it off, its a solid button.
after merging the above file with the registry, and after restarting my PC,
I saw something weird happen to my PC, the text was appearing elongated horizontally when I saw my PC fully loaded.
i saw this message
A driver cant load on this device,
Driver: igdkm64.sys
idkmd64.sys
A security setting is preventing this driver from loading. you will need to adjust your settings to load this driver.
how to fix this error.

Well... you can use the disable memory integrity reg patch, or find a version of the igdkm64.sys driver that Memory Integrity... likes.



You can also check DELL's website for a newer Intel® Graphics driver for your laptop.

In the tutorial you linked, go to Option #2 and get the reg patch in step #3.
That will turn Memory Integrity OFF.

Getting an updated igdkm64.sys, will ALSO allow you to turn Memory Integrity OFF.



This is what Memory Integrity/Core Isolation is all about...

Why do incompatible drivers prevent using Memory integrity?​

Security Windows 10


Turning on the Memory integrity setting would block these incompatible drivers from loading. Because blocking these drivers might cause unwanted or unexpected behaviors, the Memory integrity setting is turned off to allow these drivers to load.


If you want to restore the Memory integrity setting, you can try to resolve a driver incompatibility by seeing if an updated and compatible driver is available through Windows Update or from the driver manufacturer. Microsoft does not recommend that you delete drivers to attempt to restore this setting.

Short version...
Either use the reg patch to turn Memory Integrity OFF, or update the igdkm64.sys (the Intel® Graphics driver), which will allow you to enable or disable Memory Integrity through settings.


Core Isolation / Memory Integrity, checks all your drivers to make sure they are properly signed, etc.
Your "old" Intel Graphics driver is what's causing the conflict.

is drive permission (D Drive) and folder permission are the same things.

i have an application called uvk. me using the free version of it. There is an option in it called reset all drivers. if I reset all drivers and reboot.is it going to damage this or any PC using this task?

The igdkmd64.sys driver gives me grief too on one old machine of mine running RTM 23H2. It prevents me turning on Memory Integrity. There is no updated driver available, so I'm stuck with it....

It's the Graphics driver for your Intel GMA. If it get's removed your Windows will still work, but you may well find it is using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter driver now, with all the limitations that brings.

I wouldn't mess with UVK at all. I especially wouldn't use it to "reset all drivers", whatever they mean by that.





As I mentioned up above. You have some options...

1. Get an updated Intel Graphics driver if possible.
2. Just disable Core Isolation / Memory Integrity
3. If you disable the "Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist", then you shouldn't have any more problems with Memory Integrity.

Memory Integrity reads the "Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist" and then does it's thing.
With that list disabled, Memory Integrity has nothing to "read", so it assumes all your drivers are... OK.

One of the prices you pay for being an Insider is that some of the settings are managed by the Insider program. This would appear to be one of them. Why do you want to turn Memory Integrity off? It's an added protection against malware. Most people with incompatible drivers are asking how to turn it on.

If he disables the "Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist", he can turn Memory Integrity ON.
Maybe you could test that?
I have both Memory Integrity and the Driver blocklist turned off on my comp.

IMO, Microsoft doesn't really have a tested, workable solution. With all this stuff, they're just "trying it out on us", to see if they have something useful.

I have a small yellow Triangle on my Windows Defender in the task bar. and I have memory integrity off, and everything is on. Windows Defender had not had such a sign before even if memory integrity was off.
