Hi folks

Can't understand the hassle people are having with installing HP printers etc about having to create accounts.

i just plugged the printer in (HP laser printer M28) - the basic cheap model - via USB port - this one isn't wireless - it's still running with the original toner cartridge when I bought the machine nearly 3 years ago !!! -- saved a fortune on not using ink jets any more. (It can colour scan docs if I need to send any away).

Anyway just fired up print management (from Windows tools) selected the printer which was there to my astonishment and did standard print test page.

Worked perfectly.

Windows release W11 pro 22H2 22622.598

Seems also print management in this build is far superior to previous methods. I like the Windows Tools pane too -- but it's too useful so I'm sure it's bound to go in the next release !!!!!!.

My experience is pretty much the same ass @jimbo45. I have an HP LaserJet Pro M148 and an HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 connected via Ethernet to the Router, have had Win10 and Win11 plus Linux Mint pick them up and install the basics. Was given an old HP LaserJet 1022 couple weeks ago, no issue with it but it is only a printer. The MFDs/MFPs need more software for the features they have although the built-in Windows Fax and Scan usually work.
