OS
Windows 11
Hello,

For weeks now, I have been stuck on build June 11, 2025—KB5063060 (OS Build 26100.4351) Out-of-band.
Windows used to show me KB5060829 was available and ready to install, but it kept on failing at 7% and undoing changes with the error message Failed to install on ‎28/‎07/‎2025 - 0x80070002.

I can now see that I am 4 updates behind. Windows doesn't even offer the updates via the Windows Updater anymore Instead, I got a new update 2025-07 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5062660) (26100.4770).
This fails to download with an error message Download error - 0x80248014

I have tried just about everything online to the point that I think a clean install of Windows is my only option. Even the updater troubleshooter doesn't run!

After you do what @pseymour said, if the updates still fail, you can try these suggestions:

Make sure you have no corrupt system files that is causing this problem. Open a command prompt as administrator and type
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Restart computer

Then open command prompt as admin again and run sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair

Analyze and Clean Up Component Store (WinSxS folder) in Windows 11 Tutorial

Still no luck, Do a repair install. This usually works when nothing else will. Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial

Did you try doing a repair install which will hopefully take you to the latest release and preserve all your settings and configurations. Just select the "reinstall now" button.Screenshot 2025-07-28 154516.webp

Sadly nothing worked my only option was to reinstall Windows by keeps app and settings.
This allowed me to start kinda fresh and I was then able to install the latest update.
