I cannot load Win 11 since auto update yesterday - goes straight to BIOS

Do you have a recent image of those drives...before the auto update...to restore from?

I have tried both NVMe’s individually. The first one failed after rebooting a couple of times. The second one has got me to my desktop after a couple of restarts. There is no data showing on the loaded drive even under properties.
Does that mean that the data on those drives has been lost?
Or is it possible to rebuild the other drive and hope there is data on it?
If I am correct, because the disks participate in a RAID they cannot be read separately. You need to do some conversion to access one of the mirror disks, I am not sure, never used RAID. So one disk appears faulty. Did it pass the disk test? You can either convert the mirror RAID to a single disk or you can replace the faulty disk and rebuild the RAID. I can't help you, haven't done it before.

Is the data on the raid just backups or did you have files on it that you need?

AI Overview

You can recover data from a single surviving drive of a Windows mirror (RAID 1) array by connecting it to a working Windows PC as a standalone secondary drive, because a mirror contains an identical, independent copy of the file system.
[1, 2]Safety Rules Never rebuild an array or trigger an automatic resync before extracting your files, as an empty replacement or out-of-date disk can overwrite your data.Work in read-only mode or connect the healthy drive using a write-blocker or secondary adapter to prevent accidental alterations.
[1]Step-by-Step Recovery Process Shut down the computer and safely disconnect the physical hard drives from the failed or corrupted system.
Extract one healthy member disk from the RAID 1 mirror pair.Connect the drive to a separate, healthy Windows computer using a SATA-to-USB adapter or internal motherboard port.
Access the files via Windows Disk Management or File Explorer if the NTFS file system mounts normally. If the partition table or metadata is damaged, assign a drive letter or use specialized recovery software like UFS Explorer RAID Recovery or DiskInternals RAID Recovery to scan the single drive directly.
Copy your data to an entirely separate backup drive or storage.

Please stop with the AI junk.

If you do not know something on your own then stay out of the topic as AI may be giving incorrect info which means you are giving incorrect info.

Did you find any incorrect information in the ChatGPT responses?

I have a paid ChatGPT plan, which produces more thorough answers than the free plan. For a few of the issues in this thread, ChatGPT spent several minutes working on an answer. I haven't shared the full ChatGPT responses, only a brief summary of what ChatGPT suggested that I provide to the OP.

However, I agree with your point. If you aren't familiar with a topic, you shouldn't post AI-generated answers unless you've personally verified that the information is completely accurate. So, this is my last post in this thread.

That's the point of creating a mirror RAID in the first place. If one of the drives fails you have a copy of your data to the other which you can then pair with a new drive and repair the RAID (probably the term is not correct). Or just use the healthy disk as single if you don't want to buy another disk and create the mirror again some other time.
