Your BIOS still has Windows Boot Manager (Sabrent SB-RKT4P-1TB), so I would also hold off on doing a fresh installation. If loading the VMD driver makes the Sabrent accessible, there may still be an opportunity to repair the existing Windows installation.

Or the USB shows on the list because it is bootable, but the Security settings in BIOS have disabled booting from USB. You must first change BIOS settings to allow booting from USB.

Check if Secure Boot is enabled. Temporarily disable it.

If you accidentally messed up your system drive, it shouldn't prevent booting from an USB. But Secure Boot can do that if your boot manager doesn't meet cert or the latest SVN requirements.

I tried to update the IRST driver for the Maximus Z790 Hero. It came compressed. I tried compressed and uncompressed. Neither would show up on the Load Driver at the Driver Selection screen.
I just tried temporarily disabling Secure Boot but that made no difference.
I’m going to have to take a break now but thank you all for your help patience. It is greatly appreciated.

I have never had to set a password for all bios options on an Asus board.
Password is just to prevent others from changing what you set without entering the password.
You clearly do not know what the hell you are talking about.

I suspect you've extracted the downloaded ASUS file, but haven't yet extracted the actual F6/VMD driver from the ASUS installer. Windows Setup won't display the compressed package or the normal IRST setup program as a loadable driver.

I have just tryed something similar updating a Gigabyte motherboard. After a major upgrade of BIOS it became strange, and every time I tryed to start it, I was sent to BIOS. BIOS looked OK however ?
I then resat CMOS, which “bricked” i completly - no BIOS , just a blink on startup button when trying to start 😬

Luckily the MB has a flash button on the back and flashing from there fixed it. It took a wile to start/finish 🤞 Havn’t had any problems since 🙂

For intel. install Intel Rapid Storage Controller Driver during the "add driver step" of the windows install Step 10 Clean Install Windows 11

Note: If one is not going to use RAID drives, it is much easier to disable RAID and set disk mode to AHCI. This defaults to using Microsoft's rapid storage controller driver during the install. (Screenshot 1 in your post 5 above) Turn RAID OFF and your drives will be seen during install. You do not need to install Intel Rapid Sorage Controller drivers either during install OR after install.

Disabling VMD sets the board to AHCI and bypasses the IRST. You need to be in advanced mode.

Sorry for the delay. I’m still working on this issue I have with my PC. I finally managed to get the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver extracted and tried to install. It showed up in the Windows set up screen where you can install drivers. It got froze asking for disks. I assume it meant it needed a full Windows 11 ISO so I attempted to add that on a USB stick too.
It failed giving me the following error: Error code: 0x80042444 - 0x4002F .
I checked the current Intel RST driver installed in my BIOS and it hadn’t updated. The driver is greyed out saying for INTERNAL USE ONLY.

I think there is some confusion between the RST/VMD driver in the BIOS and the RST/VMD driver used by Windows.

The “Intel(R) RST 20.1.0.5817 RST VMD Driver” shown in your BIOS is part of the motherboard firmware. Loading an IRST driver in Windows Setup will not update that number, so don't use that BIOS screen to determine whether the Windows driver installed successfully.

You also don't need another Windows 11 ISO. If you have booted into Windows Setup from your Windows installation USB, you already have the Windows installation media. Load Driver is only for loading the extracted IRST/VMD storage driver.

Before doing anything else, please answer this question: Did you change Intel Rapid Storage Technology/VMD from Off to On at any time after the original Windows boot problem started?

If you definitely changed it from Off to On while troubleshooting, change it back to Off, save the BIOS settings and reboot. Then tell us exactly what happens — whether Windows starts, returns to the BIOS, or displays an error.

I can finally see the wood for the trees. Thank you @Celery , I finally noticed the EZ Mode way of turning off Intel RST. I’ve been so fixed on the Advanced Mode I missed the simple fix.
I now have my drives showing up under the NVMe Controller and Drive Information tab.
However I still can’t get Windows to load.
Any advice?
