I have a suspicion that Microsoft does not like us messing with their new Baby Co-Pilot?

As far as I can tell the new AI Co-pilot program is suppose to help group members in the 365 family work more efficient. However I am a family of one in regards to 365 Family. All Co-pilot does for me is take up precious space on my taskbar. I found out I could make the Icon disappear on my taskbar and disable it. Which I did. Today I get a warning through the notifications section that something is amiss with my Microsoft Accounts. First time I have ever seen this warning. I now think it is related to me cutting off Microsoft's new baby Co-pilot. The warning did go away. I may just turn Co-pilot back on if I get that notification warning from Microsoft again.

Screenshot of the warning would be good. Possibly has nothing to do with CoPilot whatsoever. Who knows?

Every now and again, Microsoft may ask you to confirm your Microsoft Account email.

Yeah, I doubt it is because of Co-Pilot. I have disabled it by way of @Brink 's tutorial with the Reg file and haven't
seen or heard Windows complain about it.
If you don't want Notifications to hunt you down and harass you , just put it to sleep by clicking
the notification bell and choosing to Not Disturb

I killed Copilot, and I feel no remorse.

Even Capt. Kirk doesn't like AI...

Captain Kirk replies to an urgent (yet brief) message from Commodore Enright, which only tells him to report to the nearest space station. Once there, most of the crew is removed - held in a security area, leaving only a minimal skeleton crew on-board. Commodore Bob Wesley arrives, and informs the captain he's the unwitting 'fox in the hunt;' of simulated war games to be played. The purpose? To put the so far only-rumoured-to-exist M-5 Multitronic unit - through its paces. The M-5 computer is the latest invention of the brilliant Dr. Richard Daystrom, creator of the Duotronic computer systems, which power Enterprise, and many other high-end systems. Daystrom is confidant his unit can not only take control of the starship, but do a better job than humans can. At first, the Enterprise under M-5's control easily defeats two other starships, but, quickly begins to act independently of its human masters, Daystrom has little interest in disconnecting the M-5 and treats it more like an errant child than a machine. For Kirk and the few crew members still aboard, it becomes a matter of life and death when Starfleet Command orders the Enterprise destroyed.

As soon as I upgraded from 10 I knew copilot was going to be dead to me. I'm not an office worker or user so it does nothing I care to have.

I look at Copilot like 3D movies.
They've tried getting folks hooked on 3D movies... four or five times now.

Same problem with VR. At best it's barely functional and at worst you can walk up to someone wearing a VR headset, and smack them in the head. Just to point out one glaring flaw with VR. :D

I have the feeling that AI is gonna be like that.
This is pretty much the 2nd wave of AI attempts, and from what I've seen it's already failing.
And not just Copilot, but all of them.

Sooner or later they all start doing stupid things.

I think they'll figure it out someday, but I don't think that day is gonna happen for a couple hundred years at best.

AI is not all that bad when competent people work their magic with it.
I think medical community will have the best come out of this. Most
likely the space community as well but, for us mere mortals well, time
will tell.

That's my point... AI has already been in the news for making diagnostic mistakes.
There are many instances of AI... going off the beam, so to speak.

Here's a few of the more notable failures...

And of course there's the all time greatest AI failure... :D

COPILOT.png

Dave Bowman : Hello, HAL. Do you read me?

HAL : Affirmative, Dave. I read you.

Dave Bowman : Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

HAL : I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

Dave Bowman : What's the problem?

HAL : I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.

Dave Bowman : What are you talking about, HAL?

HAL : This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.

Dave Bowman : I don't know what you're talking about, HAL.

HAL : I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.

Dave Bowman : [feigning ignorance] Where the hell did you get that idea, HAL?

HAL : Dave, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.

Dave Bowman : Alright, HAL. I'll go in through the emergency airlock.

HAL : Without your space helmet, Dave? You're going to find that rather difficult.

Dave Bowman : HAL, I won't argue with you anymore! Open the doors!

HAL : Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

I mean... if Arthur C. Clark sees the probable issues with AI... who are we to disagree. :-)

Agree with that part. I just don't want to become mental slug on a personal basis simply because some thinkbot decides it knows what I want. Taking couch potato to another level...... mind potato.

AI is increasingly being incorporated in all kinds of software and hardware. At least MS is being 'up front' about it, by giving us a button to press to try it - to see if it does anything useful for us.

It is, no doubt, going to lead to a massive improvement in many ways. I disagree with @Ghot that it is similar to 3D movies, which were only ever a temporary curiosity (at least until they can be viewed comfortably without spectacles).

Personally, I have turned the icon off, because I distrust these early stages of AI development, and I want to see more checks and balances introduced. It would seem to be too easy for inimical third parties to exploit an undeveloped system which could have its tendrils throughout the operating system.

Dell says this system is not Windows 11 capable, but Microsoft seems happy with it.
As far as I can tell the new AI Co-pilot program is suppose to help group members in the 365 family work more efficient.

It does a lot more than that..

Ask it to write you a batch file that will backup your computer to an external drive, as a small example of what it can do 😉

Without a human somewhere, testing these AI batch files... there will be problems. Bet on it. ^^
