Perhaps there is a way to fix this without installing Windows 10.
In fact, there is! I used this method on this thread for installing Windows 11 (clean install) on my 2012-ish PC.

Even when I did it, I won't advise putting Windows 11 on a incompatible hardware.

Good luck. ^^

lol It didn't work.

She's a stubborn old beast and I love her but that Turbo Boost Tech is there to stay. Even after disabling it thoroughly in the ancient 7 year old UEFI BIOS and uninstalling and reinstalling and all that sort of thing the yellow triangle persists. I'll just have to leave it for a rainy day.

@MoKiChU is correct regarding Turbo Boost. It is native to the OS as Intel states here. Overview of Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0

Its driver has not been updated in MS update catalog since 2018, way back in Windows 10 1809 days. If this driver will work with your system running on 11 WU should install it. Check the optional updates section. If it's not there, the driver is not compatible with Windows 11.

@glasskuter MoKiChU is correct regarding Intel Turbo Boost 3.0 driver with respect to Windows 10 and I don't dispute it. Evenso, I have a driver on Win 11 for this that refuses to disappear from device manager regardless of what I do with it. The link to the overview is no help to me. Although it is a rather extensive list and my CPU is certainly on that list, the link on the the list addressing my CPU brings me to this:

I've been down this road before, several times.

I have already attempted the installation of this driver (and other versions) via the Microsoft Update Catalog. The driver installation on Win 11 (Intel - System 1.1.10101.1014) fails every time. Admittedly, I get a prompt to change my BIOS settings, which thing I've done, undone, redone, and done again, in all the possible configurations available to me. Fortunately there are really only two settings that I know of in my BIOS to change ITBTM. They are both currently enabled. When I disable them my system runs considerably slower and it is quite noticeable and either way the driver will not install. Neither will it completely vanish from device manager when I uninstall it.

The recommended command >powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61

Definitely brings my system back to speed and I'm happy with it. (Now if only I could make that uglee yellow triangle disappear.) I have an obsessive compulsive fetish for making yellow triangles in my device manager vanish. They tend to get under my skin like slivers. I really do have an issue with these things. They annoy me to no end. Is there a way I can hide this thing in Win 11 device manager so I never have to look at it again? Yes, yes, I know... The problem is entirely cosmetic. Or is it? :what:

Two optional updates did make an appearance after a search but they are not producing any yellow triangles.

I thank you for the suggestion and I will try these optional updates.

The link was provided so you could see for yourself directly from Intel's mouth that the driver was native and handled by Windows not the user. If disabling in the bios doesn't get rid of the flag, only other idea I have is possibly turbo boost relies on IRST being installed. See if IRST is listed under storage controllers in device manager. I know of nothing else to try.

This link is provided for info only. Read it or not.

Hi,
^ turboboost has nothing to do with IRST.

Did you try installing the latest chipset drivers like ghot suggested? That is the first thing that jumped to my mind. It may just be intractable though.

I usually have turboboost max 3.0 disabled, so I enabled it in BIOS. I see no turbo boost driver in the device manager. I think that is an obsolete component of Windows and it is handled by something else in Windows 11, maybe the "Intel power engine" plug-in system device.

This really points to some obsolete chipset definitions. Chipset drivers are not really drivers, but sort of a database of Intel devices and their parameters that the OS uses to identify the devices and know what driver it needs. This is why I think it is an obsolete chipset issue that may be fixable (may because you chipset is "unsupported" by Windows 11 I believe) by installing the latest chipset drivers.

I would make a backup and make sure you have a USB stick bootable restoration drive, then install the latest from your Motherboard support page. If those don't help, I would try the latest available.

I think if I am to attempt what you suggest that instead of installing the ITBT 3.0 driver from ASUS Support page I reinstall the latest chip set driver. I will try that. Thank you.

I own too many laptops: A Dell touch screen with Windows 11 and 6 others (not counting the other four laptops I bought for this household.) Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
Nope. lol Tried all the available chipset drivers for Win 10 (Asus has none for 11) and MEI drivers and ITBT drivers. Also tried uninstalling from device manager which always results in an "unknown" waiting to be fixed. TBH even if I installed Win 10 on this PC I don't think it would fix my Win11 issue because this 5 year old PC is now obsolete with TPM1.2 due to Microsoft's brilliant marketing strategy for helping to reduce e-waste and being pro-green simply by making sure that 95% of PCs being used are not compliant with WIN 11.

Pretty sad when one thinks of it. Spend four grand on a CPU and a system board (never mind the rest) and in less than five years Windoze says it isn't good enough for the OS they offer. The real kick in the teeth is that they're using antiquated and archaic hardware to justify their reason for this. TPM first came out in 2011 and was so horrible that they had to make a new version (TPM2) in 2016 which is still horrible. It's like telling USB 2.0 users that they can't install Windows 10 because their system board doesn't support USB 3.0. Totally illogical. There is absolutely no good reason TPM should not be optional with this operating system just as it was with Windows 10. Good thing Linux makes no such demand.

I have $7k invested in my hardware (counting audio, desk and an expensive monitor :D ). I'll be sad someday soon.

Linux is great for many things, but not everything.

lol this rig runs over 10K Canadian. It also runs 5 different RAID arrays (two on LSI/Broadcom cards) and supports a rather extensive home network. To be entirely truthful I'm sorry I bought a 4K monitor for it because everything is so tiny on the monitor that I have to diminish the quality of the resolution just to see my stuff. 😜 But she's a tough old girl and I won't be disposing of her any time soon. If I have to run Linux on it without the added dis-service of the newer excuses for Windows operating systems then so be it. Win 10 wasn't good enough to put on this PC and it's starting to look the same for Win 11 as well. I have yet to see Windows produce something that tops Win 7 Ultimate and I was hoping this could be my 7-11 build. It still runs Win 7 without a hitch and if Windows Management isn't blowing sunshine it still gets the security updates I need. The RAM alone on this unit cost me over 2K$ and I'm not sorry I got it either. I just think it's a shame that Microsoft is going from bad to worse in a painfully obvious money grab without any regard for the e-waste they'll be generating with this move. Optane is EOL now. IRST is EOL and it looks like Win 10 won't be around much longer either. RIP I don't feel horribly bad about Win 8.1 going EOL but it certainly was an inconvenience for me when every PC on the network using 8.1 crashed 48 hours after EOL. Seems suspicious. Kaspersky found nothing. I got most of them up and running again but some of them simply could not be salvaged. Some of our PCs still use MBR and Legacy. I won't apologize for this. Intel, HP, IBM and the rest of the consortium crew aren't really offering any viable alternatives for Optane, IRST, or even ITBT for that matter. Evidently they don't give a flying RIP about the domestic end user so yeah, no apologies here for leaning on Legacy. I'm very disappointed with Microsoft. While I'm on a roll I'd just like to say that Intel probably wouldn't have such a problem with Spectre/Meltdown if they weren't pandering to the Alphabet Soup Syndicate but that's an entirely different issue and this is hardly the time or place to discuss it. I'm noticing a whole lot disappearing and precious little being replaced in the process. Open up the windows. . . Let the bad air out.

Hi @Scannerman,

I sent you a PM regarding your Intel Turbo Boost Technology remaining issue. Also, for information :

You need these firmware/drivers for your ASUS X99-E WS/USB 3.1 motherboard :

[FIRMWARE] Intel ME (H81/B85/H87/Z87/H97/Z97/X99)

[DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/SATA (6x/7x/8x/9x)

- Intel Chipset Drivers

- Intel MEI Drivers (Drivers Only) :
Drivers - 8x/9x

- Intel SATA AHCI-RAID Drivers (Drivers Only) :
Drivers - 8x/9x

[DRIVERS] ASMedia SATA

[DRIVERS] Intel Ethernet/WiFi/Bluetooth

- Intel Ethernet Drivers (Drivers Only) :
Drivers - I217/I218/I219
+
Drivers - I210/I211

[DRIVERS] Realtek Audio (Intel 6x/7x/8x/9x/1xx & AMD Legacy 6xx/7xx/8xx/9xx)

You have an ASUS Realtek motherboard, so :

You need Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers (HDA - ASUS ROG/TUF/PRIME DTS&RTK) from the first post of the thread.

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
Had to size image first. Hope that was okay.

Perfect.
