You can only leave the Beta Chsnnel when the next release version is released aa then the Beta and Release versions are identical. This cannot happen with the Dev version as it is always ahead of the next release. This could take up to a year now official releases are up to a year apart.

To leave the Dev Channel, you have to change over to the Beta Channel but you will not get updates until the Beta version overtakes the "frozen" Dev version. In practice this means you miss the next release version and have to wait for the one after This could take up to two years.

You can always clean install release version of course.

I wouldn't bother with it and I would never install DEV version again because I had to reinstall Windows 11 because it screwed up my drivers and I couldn't load my 4 x 4TB disks, he didn't show them to me in file explorer, I tried everything and I couldn't do anything do than install new windows.

You are missing the point - you change the channel to Beta but the installed Beta release number is ahead of the current Beta version, and will not get updated until the current Beta release number catches up /overtakes the Dev number you just changed from. You can never go backward on build versions - only wait until updates overtake the Beta version created by mving from Dev to Beta. In the worst case, it can take up to 2 years.

thank you for answering my question, I already knew that you can't go backwards but I wanted to know what would happen if I got my updates this way in the long term its helped me out a lot.
