Installing the old Snipping tool

Just got my new laptop and have een trying to install theold version Snipping tool as I really do notlike th new version. But I am guessing because I am on one of the latest builds 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8875) they will just block me for whatever they like. So anyone have any ideas or alternatives as the ones I have looked at I am not sure about.

I grabbed the last old version without the message that Snipping Tool is moving from Windows 10 Version 1803 ISO.

Ok Stigg I'll try them but am not going to hold my breath mate as I have been trying multiple times with an AI talking to me and the hoops we jumped through were simply a time-wasting exercise. But hopefully those links will get it back for me before I lose the will to live LOL!!

Ok mate, thanks for the heads up but I am on 25H2 now with this new laptop and have tried those links but it is just so hard to get anything installed as it is let alone the Snipping tool because they are just making it impossible to run. I think I shall have to look around for something similar as print screen and all that sort of jumping through hoops is not only frustrating but is very annoying at the same time when you think of how much one has paid for their OS.

Edit.. Windows 7 don't have anything called this, so i dont know what it is

edit2 after asking AI it dont even translate right In swedish its named Skärmklippnings verktyg. translated to english that is Screen Capture Tools or Screenshot tool
Snipping is something you do when Neutering animals. *LOL*

I just tested the old Snipping Tool on Windows 11 Pro 25H2 26200.8973.
It works fine for me.

Well mate perhaps it might be down to the difference in our time zones or countries because the OS I have that was installed by the seller will just not run it and the trouble is I have been on it's case for over two hours now trying every hoop that I have to jump through. It's a bigt like that way by which you can link yourself to the European version; and one can uninstall that awful Edge stuff too, as I did that on my old Ivy Bridge desktop. But I shall keep on trying as well as you know the machine can change it's mind any time it likes.

have you tried uninstalling the new snipping tool before installing the old snipping tool

Not sure what's wrong with the new one --it does its job properly -- If I want to use video capture etc I'd use something else but for basically easily capturing a screen area then nothing wrong with the current snipping tool.

Another option-- simply install spectacle on it - this is a KDE screen capture which runs on virtually any Linux distro and you can run these types of Windowed apps in the WSL - and it hs access to the full windows screen. Useful too is the fact you can set delay periods for capture which makes it easy to capture those popup / context menus which disappear normally when you move the mouse.

Snipping Tool is still a convoluted p-i-t-a!
I want a capture tool where you hit PrtScn and plop, on the Desktop! Period! Done!
None of this Save, Rename, choose a destination bullsh*t!

Win+PrtSc captures full screen to %USERPROFILE%\Pictures\Screenshots without any interaction.

That folder could be redirected to desktop if essential.

i found the screen neutering tool, under another name thogh.

But i have never used that tool in windows.. in windows i just press print screen open paint and ctrl+v

Oh well, I suppose MS in their infinite wisdom, felt that they ought to change the snipping tool to what it is now, and for me it just adds another level of annoyance using this feature - my main gripe is that once one could just go to File and Save as, the new one tucks this away.
Now, while I think that the system does have to be worked on for security stuff features, for example, some of the OS is becoming really convoluted and not forgetting all of the bugs that different builds and updates sometimes come with.
I don't know about anyone else, but Windows 7 was such an easy OS to use despite some of the vulnerabilities it had.

actually.. that is not hard to do in C/C++ you hit print screen key and the image saves on the desktop named screen and then date/time so you can hit the key once every second.. It is possible to set it down to tenth of a second too.
