Intel shutting down Clear Linux OS

 Clear Linux Forums:

After years of innovation and community collaboration, we’re ending support for Clear Linux OS. Effective immediately, Intel will no longer provide security patches, updates, or maintenance for Clear Linux OS, and the Clear Linux OS GitHub repository will be archived in read-only mode. So, if you’re currently using Clear Linux OS, we strongly recommend planning your migration to another actively maintained Linux distribution as soon as possible to ensure ongoing security and stability.

Rest assured that Intel remains deeply invested in the Linux ecosystem, actively supporting and contributing to various open-source projects and Linux distributions to enable and optimize for Intel hardware.

A heartfelt thank you to every developer, user, and contributor who helped shape Clear Linux OS over the last 10 years. Your feedback and contributions have been invaluable.

It is/was a distro geared toward IT nerds, and it was about as popular as Crystal Pepsi. I'm sure tens of people are saddened by this news.

Hi folks
Never heard of it -- never used it -- and why would anybody even think of using something that nobody ever shows a screen shot with an application that actually WORKS on the wretched thing.

I'd suggest if people are messing around with Linux - just stick to the major sensible distros - Ubuntu, Fedora, Opensuse,Debian, ArchLinux and their "official spins" - then you won't really go wrong. By all means also try the "immutable" versions but for these unless you are into a load of compiling / debugging just stick to Fedora,Ubuntu or Opensuse.

Perhaps the name of that obscure Linux distro should be changed to ClearAwayFrom Linux. Anyway it's gone now - so what's the point of even mentioning it.

Cheers
jimbo
