Intermittent audio issues Dolby Surround using W11 25H2 26200.6901

I've a T550 ThinkPad & 40A2 docking station, 32" LG monitor connected via Display port, a 65" TV connected via HDMI through a Yamaha receiver with Dolby Surround 5.1 that I would like to use for streaming most content using a 'browser' vs apps for obvious reasons. Video is fine but there's intermittent issues with the 5.1 audio. Very intermittent and sometimes more frequent than others. I have changed HDMI 2 times, and I'm satisfied with quality of the cable. The T550 is an i5-5300 with all current drivers using Intel etc.

The W11 is an 'upgrade' and the Dolby came along from W10 when upgraded. I had never tried this when this was a W10 machine.

I have NOT tried using HDMI to the TV and TosLink to the receiver. TV & receiver is in a cabinet of sorts that makes the connection very difficult. Would/should it even work?

Any thoughts as to what I might try?

I've considered a Mini w/W11 fresh and then adding Dolby from the MS Store. Anyone done that and is streaming content w/browser through receiver to display?

Now that 25H2 is out there should I risk a 'clean' install using Rufus on the T550? I believe that the correct way would be to disconnect the 'dock', do the clean install to T550 then reconnect to 'dock'. Correct?

Microsoft removed the built-in Dolby Digital (AC-3) codec

Download and install both the files (lowest version first) of the AC-3 codec’s in this file.

1. First - Dolby AC-3: 1.1.285.0
2. Second - Dolby AC-4: 1.0.0.0

You’ll need it especially if you do a clean install.

When I clean installed 25H2, most all of the (many) movies I own had no sound. Those files fixed it immediatly (for me)

I thought that those might have actually helped me with my issues, so I had done them I believe, but from the MS Store. All that got me was 'configuration failed' when I checked. I tried those today from the link and I got message that I already had newer version. I didn't do the reinstall that was offered. Should I just do it and see what happens?

Perhaps not.

I know you said you would rather not use an app, but I have no experience using a browser to cast movies.

I use PLEX as a media server on my PC. LG has a Plex app. I stream to the TV wirelessly.
I know this probably doesn’t help, but it’s all I know when it comes to streaming from my PC. I also know that there are other apps/Software, I have just never used them.

However…

As long as the TV and PC share (are on) the same network, playing movies should work, even without an app, regardless if your TV is connected to the router via wireless or Ethernet

On the PC:

Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Centre\Media streaming options




Also, you will need to turn on the following:




Then on your LG, there should be a "Photos & Videos" app already on the LG TV "Home" bar (Sorry about the primitive images)
