* @OldMainframeGuy 's recent post made me think of this, and as many people as possible should be aware of it.
Quickbooks Desktop is going away, they are pushing all of their users who arent enterprise to Quickbooks online. They are currently actively refusing to send users activation codes and blocking activation for all copies of Quickbooks Desktop that are older than 1 year.
What does this mean?
What can you do?
I hope this helps some users avoid being pressured into the could offering. Anyone supporting small businesses should do this for their clients as a safety net ASAP.

- If you have Quickbooks Desktop 2023 or older and need a new HDD you will lose your copy of quickbooks on that machine
What can you do?
- While your copy of Quickbooks Desktop is still supported, in the top menu bar of the Quickbooks Desktop window Click "Help>About Intuit Desktop XXXXX" then press CTRL+ALT+R+P to bring up the phone activation window (This will not effect an activated product but it will still offer phone codes)
- Call the number on the screen and tell Intuit you are installing Quickbooks Desktop on a non-internet connected machine and give them your phone codes from the about window, they will give you an activation code in return
- Store the activation code somewhere safe, this code will allow you to activate your Quickbooks Desktop product indefinitely without the help of Intuit.
