I let some of my computers go to sleep when I am not using them. The advantage of doing this is so that they can do their daily backups automatically after midnight when I am asleep.
The only disadvantage of a computer sleeping is I have found that sometimes Windows becomes corrupted over time. If a particular computer is having problems I have to reboot it to clear the problem. For example, I could no longer connect from my laptop to my desktop over my network. The laptop is shut down every night but the desktop goes to sleep at night and hasn't been powered down in a week or two. Rebooting the desktop solved the problem.
