Is it still better to use Revo Pro to track installs?

Recently, I had to install a bunch of programs in a rush, so I skipped using Revo Uninstaller Pro to track them.

I then had to uninstall most of those programs, and Revo seemed to handle the removal just as well as if the installations had been tracked.

Is it still better to track installs?

I am using Revo Uninstaller 5.5.2.

I haven't used the track feature in Revo Pro in a while.

Forced uninstall works for hard cases...

I've used Revo Uninstaller Pro for several years now and is my go-to uninstaller for apps in Windows. I don't though use Hunter Mode.

I cannot tell if the track install identifies any files or registry entries that Pro Uninstall would not find. But tack has to be used carefully and make sure nothing else is running. I found this the hard way as while I was installing a program I either used or opened Thunderbird. After doing some test I unistalled the tracked program and the process broke Thunderbird by deleted some of its control files. Fortunately I had a recent image backup to restore the system.

I use REVO uninstaller free. Have used it for almost 20 years.
I also use 3rd party backup software.

If I ever need to test a bunch of software, I install it... see what's good and what's bad.
Then I restore from a backup, and only install the good stuff.

The trick is to keep the "used space" on your Windows partition, fairly small.
That way backups and restores are very fast.

For most people. Revo Uninstaller Free does just fine. Of course, like all free apps, you'll see an ocassional popup to buy Pro, but it's easy enough to click off of. I use Revo Pro Portable on a networked drive as well as on a usb stick. It's a couple of years outdated but still works like a champ on any computer.

Rwgardless of any uninstaller capacity, the best way of handling complete removal of programs is to make an image backup BEFORE installing the programs, then restore the image backup after the program(s) have been installed.

Hiwever, this works well if you want to remove all the new programs but is trickier if you wish to keep some.

True enough, but in this particular case I did want to keep some of the programs, inducing config options.

I agree with you in principle, but there is a small set of utilities for which I am willing (and happy) to pay for. Revo Uninstaller, Beyond Ccompare, Goodsync and Duplicate Cleaner. (should we start a new thread on this topic.) I would have been OK to pay a one-time price for JAM Ultrasearch Pro version, but that's a yearly subscription, which I didn't want.

Of course. But if you run Windows Pro, MS Office 365, several Adobe photo programs, Quicken (USA-based finance program). the "usual" set of browsers, and your swap and hibernation files all on C:, it does fill up pretty quickly.
