7-8 years ago I used Lightshoot regularly, but after it was declared unsafe I uninstalled it. I wanted to check it on VT today, the results are on the screenshot. I am no longer sure if it is good or bad, what do you say, what are your experiences with that tool.

NO IT'S NOT SAFE! Seeing that image I'm surprised you're even asking on here.
Just 1 red flag would be enough to make me avoid it, this has four

Many perfectly safe and legit programs, even open source apps, get one or more red flags in VirusTotal. False positives are very common, but typically with lesser-known AVs. I'm not claiming that Lightshot is safe (I haven't researched it) but VT's results are not necessarily conclusive.

Having findings on VT is not always always a good indication of software being unsafe. Those hits on VT just state it's bundled with a PUP (potentially unwanted program). This could be them trying to add something like a bing search bar or other software. Just be sure to uncheck the add-on so it doesn't install.

That's one of the reasons I asked the question, I was hoping forum users had some experience with Lightshoot.

It seems the concern with Lightshot is around the "Upload to cloud" feature. My understanding is that the images are not encrypted and the short URLs can be auto-generated to randomly grab other user's screenshots. If that's correct, then you should either not use the cloud option or be very careful that the screenshots that go to the cloud do not contain any data you wouldn't want to share.

I wouldnt bother using it when windows has the built in snipping tool which is free and isn't shady and has a ton of features.
