is microsoft high definition audio driver not compatible to cirrus logic sound card?

Hi, I have the cirrus logic sound card in the dell pc. I tried the microsoft high definition driver , as sound device driver. The driver installed successfully, and the date of the driver is latest that is oct this year.
Normally any microsoft driver is considered as generic driver that works in all the pc.
But when I tried this driver, after installation there is no sound at all and , only if i uninstall it, then it works.
could anybody say, what I am missing.
I have issues with cirrus logic drivers.
