Your Download at 162.16 Mb/s is faster than mine at 144Mb/s. That's certainly fast enough for most purposes, streaming HD TV, etc.

Whether yours is 'good' or not depends on what speed of package you're paying your ISP for. My package is supposed to be a maximum of 150Mb/s, so I'd rate mine as 'good'. I could pay more for a faster package, up to 900Mb/s is offered by my ISP - at a price. But 150Mb/s is more than enough for my needs.



My upload is faster than yours because I have a fibre to the house connection with symmetrical upload/download speeds. Broadband with copper wire for the last leg to the house typically prioritises download over upload.

Yes, Yours is good for what most people need.

What plan are you signed up to with your ISP and what technology is your internet connection using?

Is it a broadband which could be using any one of DSL, cable or fiber optic? Your speeds are too fast for a dial-up connection. Or are you using a 4G or 5G mobile connection?

There is a significant difference in your down/up load speed. so your ISP must be a cable company. Cable ISP upload speed often much lower than download speed.

In contrast, @Bree must be using a fiber company. her down/up load speed nearly identical.

Internet speed specs is payment-related.

In USA,
100 Mbps, or lower, $20 a month.
300 Mbps, or lower, $40 a month.
1000 Mbps, or lower, $100 a month.

If your speed reading is NOT what you have paid, you can complain to your ISP.

There is more to it than that. I have never heard of an ISP that guarantees a speed. Here is an example of what they might say, "We do not guarantee specific speeds, advertising them as "up to" a certain level. Actual speeds vary due to network conditions, device age, and Wi-Fi interference."

For example, if you have Gigabit Internet:
For an Ethernet connection you might get 850-950Mbps. You can't really complain unless you are getting a lot less than that. Also, that assume your computer has Gigabit Ethernet port.

For a Wi-Fi connection then it is a different matter. It depends upon what Wi-Fi your laptop supports. If it is Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) then you might get 250-350 Mbps. If it is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) then it might be 650-750 Mbps.

In the above example I was talking about download speeds. Most Fiber Internet has the same download and upload speeds. Cable Internet providers really don't want to say much about the upload speed. If you look hard enough you might find the upload speeds are maybe 10-300Mbps depending upon what tier you are paying for. For most people that is not a big problem.

That is because the UK government mandates that
New UK broadband customers to get speed guarantees (2019)
"Users will be able to walk away from contract if supplier fails to deliver reasonable service"

Where I live in the U.S. we have four Internet providers (not counting cell phone Internet providers)
Cable Internet: Comcast, WOW
Fiber Internet: AT&T, Google

None of them provide guaranteed Internet speeds. For example, here is what a WOW says

WOW! WiFi internet speeds vary by device and the speed you’ve enrolled in. Maximum internet speeds are also subject to the method of connecting to the Internet (wired vs wireless), the limits of Ethernet ports (e.g., when using a 1Gbps Ethernet port, your actual speed to a single device will generally be up to 940Mbps over a hardwired connection), the location, number and capability of WiFi devices and connected devices, and other factors outside of WOW!’s control.

BTW, I have Comcast Gigabit X2 Internet (download 2100Mbps, upload 300Mbps).
