Absolutely. My bad for being cheap. But being cheap is how I was able to afford what I have that isn’t cheap. Old miser they call me.

There is still one laptop I have running with a $5.00 key. It’s linked to my main MS account and says activated in my Office software. I suspect, when I have to reinstall it. It will fail. I also don’t understand OEM keys from Scrap PC’s, I just know it appears it is what I was buying cheap. But there is no doubt in my mind that Stack Social is legitimate.

I actually have one of the cheap office pro keys for my own computer. There's no rush as he's just playing with it at the moment rather than doing anything serious, but thanks for the tips and to @Bree for the link to the purchase. I'm not keen on 365 - apart from the annual cost and have seen too many people have issues - but we'll decide later. The younger ones seem to like things like that. I'd rather pay for office 2021 as an install though.

Microsoft gave it away for free because at the time another standalone Office suite wasn't in the future.

They moved Office to the cloud.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

Nah, I am kind of running on vague lately. I think I need to change my heart medication. I don’t remember why I stood up let alone what I did with my PC, lately. I’m sure it will pass.

Students usually get a deal on Office 365. Not really sure why you would see so many people run into issues, I've been using Office 365 for about 7 years with no trouble whatsoever.

Office 365 is installed like any other version of office. However, you can install it on an unlimited number of devices.
