Is passkey development possible for 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13400F (2.50 GHz)

I purchased my desktop/laptop/phone before the passkey revolution. Here's what I have:
  • 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13400F (2.50 GHz) desktop
  • Intel Core i7-12700H, 4.7 GHz, 14 cores, 20 threads laptop
  • Samsung Galaxy A51 phone with Android 12 (14 or better is needed for passkey).
Can I develop a passkey shy of purchasing new hardware? Or am I relegated to the old username/password world?

Thanks for comments or advice.

I'm not sure what you mean by "develop" a passkey, but you can use a passkey on anything Running Windows 11, even unsupported hardware.

Are you confusing a passkey with a pin? You can create a pin.
go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, and under PIN (Windows Hello), click Add to create your PIN. You'll be prompted to enter your current password to verify your identity, then enter and confirm your new PIN.

You can use passkeys with Windows Hello in Windows 11 quite well (there are further limitations with Windows 10). Just enable PIN unlock and try creating an account on Passkeys.io – A Real-World Passkey Demo & Info Page (or this forum). You can also use hardware keys (which require purchase) like YubiKey.

For Android 12, I am not sure, but with Android 13, you can store passkeys for cross-device authentication (to use on the PC) in the Google Password Manager; on Android 13, this requires Chrome installation. On Android 15, you supposedly can use third-party password managers to act as cross-device authenticators as well.

If my PC was so equipped I would use biometric login as I do on my Apple devices, but as it is I have no biometric devices on this PC so I use a pin to login. I have no qualms with using site passkeys more so to satisfy the sites nagging me to create one than anything else. My password manager stores it and uses it across all my devices so I have to create the passkey only on one device. I will roll with the flow but at the end of the day, I am not paranoid about security.
I figure I'm safer from the boogers than most users out there.

That's my problem. I have or can prepare:
  • PIN
  • Username
  • Password
  • facial recognition
  • phone number
  • fingerprint
  • serial number
  • secret code
And I'm familiar with:
  • 6-digit codes sent to my phone
  • Picture puzzle for me to identify e.g., motorcycles (or parts thereof)
  • Google saved passwords
I can reset any of the above and used Nordpass to develop an unguessable super-long PW. But I've purchased some hardware that insists that I download the app using my "Passkey." I don't have a passkey.
