Solved Is this Legitimate or caused by malware? All came Up Clean from Defender Full Scans

Has anyone received this message recently after a feature update from MS Edge?
My default Search was reset from Google to Bing.

According to searches which I had done, says it might of been an Edge update which triggered this event.

I canned my system with Defender (full scan) and came up clean.

No unusual apps are installed. I rarely install apps. Just the ones that I need and this about it.

No extensions are installed. Nothing.

If I am still paranoid about this, then I will eventually reinstall Windows.
But to avoid wasting time doing so, just need someone else to confirm if have seen this before.

I don't use EDGE, so I haven't seen that before. But...
MS pulls this kind of stuff all the time.
They want everyone on EDGE and using BING.

This is one reason I don't use EDGE.
In the past, MS has even had Defender flag known good programs as bad, just to steer folks away from them.

I know it's hard to believe, but MS... cheats. ^^



NOTE: If you're really still on 22H2, you need to upgrade to 25H2, minimum. ^^

Yes. Because really, I don't install apps just out of the blue.

I only install the apps which I need and that's all.

Most of my apps are from a trusted source and vetted on my USB flash drive.

Ran a full scan again with Defender and came up clean.

The only way to prevent Edge from changing settings at will, like Search, is to use policies.

All you have to do is attend to the Edge settings > Privacy, search, and services.
Others settings as well.
I have never seen that particular MSspeak message. Don't worry about it.

Been an Edge user ever since the UWP Edge App in Windows 8.1.
Regularly since it was Chromiumed.

And now a long tiresome message about Direfox which I don't use...

It is a notification from Edge. I rarely open Edge so I get one of those popups almost every time I do because something in Edge has been updated.
