Is Win-11 25H2 stable enough for my I5-3570K PC

It seems to be doing good enough running 22H2 but after testing a few things in my sound settings it gave some sort of error message when I shut down. I was playing with the setting because the sound is a lot lower and softer with Win-11 . . . it's a lot "crisper" with Win-7 and I dont have an equalizer so I dont know what's causing it.

So I guess that's sorta TWO questions but really just want to know if I should install 25H2

P.S. Windows updated itself from 22H2 to 24H2 on my newer computer (listed in my profile) and I dont know if this older PC will do that eventually.

Well the 3570K has SSE4.2 instruction set. :-)

Despite the rumors... 25H2 seems rock-solid to me. I haven't had any problems. ^^


Since you're on 24H2... make a fresh backup and then use the 25H2 Enablement Package.
It takes 3 seconds and a reboot.

If you have issues, just restore from your backup.

Can't get past 23h2

Been trying for a week to get my pc upgraded to W11 - Finally got it to get to W11 23h2 but cannot get it any further. Can even do an In place upgrade to W11 23h2 again, but not to 24h2 or 25h2. Dell PC, i7, 12th gen. Fails with "SECOND BOOT". I'm new here - any advice is appreciated

Ive never heard of UUP Dump. Is there any other option for getting the 24H2 ISO?

Otherwise, how do I use the file it downloaded 26100.7309_amd64_en-us_multi_3a118763_convert.zip

UUP Dump is safe. We use UUP Dump all the time.

No, it won't. Your newer PC is a compatible device for Windows 11, your 3rd gen i5-3570K isn't. Window Update will never offer a W11 feature update to an unsupported device.

I can't see any advantage in that, it should be just as easy to go to 25H2. 24H2 and 25H2 share a common set of system files, with the 25H2 features dormant until enabled by a small enablement package. The only significant difference between a 25H2 ISO and a 24H2 one is that 25H2 includes the enablement package.

For an in-place upgrade to 25H2 you'd need to download the 25H2 ISO from Microsoft, then use the registry commands from Option Three in this tutorial before starting the upgrade. These registry changes bypass the checks for a supported system.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

So I guess that's sorta TWO questions but really just want to know if I should install 25H2

P.S. Windows updated itself from 22H2 to 24H2 on my newer computer (listed in my profile) and I dont know if this older PC will do that eventually.

@john1955 Windows 11 Pro is great and fine on unsupported CPU, though an NVMe or SSD (instead of HDD) for an Ivy Bridge era CPU is a must.

Your issue sounds more like a possible drive issue or settings issue to me.
Many sound issues similar to what you described can be helped with tweaking a graphic EQ or speaker/sound settings

No changes were made . . . I just discovered that I also had to re-enter my keys to the 3 Turbotax programs on this PC and I only had 2 of them so if I ever need it I'll have to buy a new TT license.

Good to know. I only have one internal HDD as a backup drive that holds a lot of image backup files and I also use a 2T external SSD for backups in case the internal one fails.

I think you means driver issue, not drive issue. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

you could use Rufus to burn the Windows 11 25H2 iso to USB stick
using the Rufus bypasses that are available when you open Rufus before the image is created.

then when Rufus has created the bootable USB open file explorer and browse to the
Windows 11 25H2 setup.exe file within the USB stick and do the upgrade that way.

i have found using Rufus and upgrading from its bootable USB stick a better option for upgrade success
then using the Windows 11 25H2 ISO directly.
