700w PSU enough for my System?

700W is fine for your system. My last 4 power supplies have all been Seasonic. I've also purchased a Corsair in the past.

Seasonic is my go to brand, and I'm willing to pay a bit extra for it.

I've never heard of HKC. Do they sell any PSUs in the US under their own name, or are they strictly sold by others?

Higher end EVGA PSUs have a 10 year warranty. I chose a 850W PSU which cost slightly more than their similar 750W OSU.

The PSU in my primary PC is from Seasonic. See "My Computers", System 1. (No, I'll never need 1250W. Or over 100A on the +12V rail.)

My secondary desktop uses an eVGA PSU.

I have an old "Silencer" PSU around from PC Power and Cooling. I'd probably still be using it (it's AMD red), but it isn't a modular PSU. It occasionally powers an open test machine.

I have two of the old PC Power & Cooling Silencers (750w, non modular, 60A on the 12V rail). The one in my running comp has to be 13-15 years old... still going strong.
The other 750W still works too. I don't use that computer though. It still works, but it's old.
I really miss PC Power & Cooling.

I have an Antec TruePower New TP-550 (Made by Seasonic) in my just replaced 11 year old PC. Still going strong. I chose the Corsair RM550x for my current build (Both in My Computers)

We have three Corsair PSUs in this house and all of them have run fine with no issues.

One Antec as a spare, One EVGA and Three Corsairs all fine. I tend to look for proper reviews before buying anything these days having had a PSU explode in the past after a few hours of use!

I've always bought Thermaltake in fact just bought a 750W Toughpower yesterday at Microcenter to put back in the Skylake system as I transferred the 850W to the Cometlake. I've only had one go bad and that was on the day of a power outage; I knew someone in the neighborhood who lost an entire system mobo included to that power outage which was a strange one with lights dimming and a hum.

I had a Toughpower in the past, never gave me problems.

I think mostly as OEM. They may sell some direct in some countries, maybe China.

If you want to start a home fire, Gigabyte GP-PGM series is a good option.

I believe those are made by MEIC. See you often do not know what you may get unless you stick with proven quality OEM (like Seasonic or Superflower).

Unless you are running extra hard drives and a big video card, etc... a decent 700 will be fine for you.

There are any number of PSU Calculators online. Here's one: Newegg PSU Calculator

I used it to estimate that a 450W PSU would be adequate. You have lots of margin.

I also think that 700W is enough for this configuration with single video card.
Here is 1000W power supply Platimax D.F. (bought with discount, otherwise I would choose a more cheap PSU) and I think my PC normally uses less than a half of its power because the PSU fan never rotates: it has the intelligent fan which doesn't rotate at low load because of high efficiency (80+ Platinum).

I dont think you need 1000w.

Also, when building a PC at System Builder it gives you an estimated wattage (you don't have to pick new component you can pick existing ones - within limits, sometimes you have to manually add in old components).

For my current rig, I went with a PC Power and Cooling 1050W platinum, as I simply could not find the eVGA 1600W monster anywhere when building, and neither the Seasonic 1200W. eVGA has *always* been good to me, though I personally know other people to whom they have not been good. Once the economy gets back to semi-normal (production, shipping, etc.) I might upgrade to a beefier SeaSonic if they have a good sale. But my PC P&C has been perfectly fine, nary a hiccup.

My last few systems I've specified myself for others to build, I have just selected a reasonable PSU for my need - actually its always a Gold rated 750W unit, from a recognised manufacturer I do not play games and my usage tends to use more processor than Graphics so do not fit top of the range graphics cards.

More than once the system builder software has queried the size of the PSU, stating that is overpowered for the other hardware I even had the one builder actually phoned me when he started to build the system asking if I really wanted to fit the PSU.

I have worked in the Electronics industry for many years and feel that an under used PSU is more reliable than an over used one and also gives you the flexibility to add additional components if you want, the costs differences are not a major consideration on the PSU choice as the differences are only small.
