Is Windows Media Player deleted/not installed in Windows 11?

I just installed the latest in-place Dev version of W11. I am pleased to see that Windows Media Player 12 still remains functional after the install, though it has been deprecated for years. I like that it has the new rounded window corners!

Eventually I'd like to do a clean install, and would like to know if Windows Media Player will be installed with Windows 11. Further, if it's not, is it possible to install it from a separate installer? I have seen several instances where installer files appear available, but am leery of their safety/veracity.

You can manually install it if it is not installed by going to Settings --> Apps --> Optional features --> Add an optional feature and click on View features, then scroll down to Windows Media player and select it (click the check box) then click Next button then the Install button.

As johngalt says, it's an optional feature that you can add if needed. But the last clean install I did (22000.51) had it installed by default.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

Thank you all. That's a load off my mind. I've spend untold hours creating a music collection in
WMP 12, and the prospect of having to recreate it in a new player is a daunting task.
