Issue with Recent Windows Insider Build – Performance Drops and App Crashes

Hi everyone,


I'm currently on the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.751 (Canary Channel) and I've been experiencing some unusual issues since updating.


After installing this build:

• System performance seems slower, especially during startup.
• Apps like Edge, Discord, and even File Explorer occasionally freeze or crash.
• I’ve noticed increased fan usage and CPU spikes even while idle.

My Windows Version:
Winver shows: Version 23H2 (OS Build 26120.751)


I’ve already tried:

• Running sfc /scannow (no issues found)
• Disabling startup apps and background services
• Checking for GPU driver updates (I'm on latest NVIDIA release)

This issue wasn't happening on the previous build, so I’m wondering if others on this Insider build are facing the same thing?


If needed, I can upload logs via OneDrive—just let me know which ones are useful (e.g., Reliability Monitor, Event Viewer, etc.).

I doubt that very many will be able to help with this since the Canary build that you are running is over a year old. Have you considered upgrading to a newer build? How about considering an upgrade to an actual released version or a modern insider build?

Remember that this is an ancient Canary build and bugs and problems in it would be unsurprising.

I'm not trying to sound harsh here and I hope that someone proves me wrong and supplies some answers, but realistically, I don't know how much effort you will get on a really old version of Windows that is not even a production version.
