Solved Issues With System Restore

Hi, I have Windows 11 version 21H2 (Aug 22) and have a problem with System Restore.

I have it turned off - or thought I did. I checked yesterday and found it is re-enabling itself to 'on' every time I restart my laptop.
I delete any/all restore points (there never are any) and re-check the choice to OFF. It is even set to 1% even though there are no restore points.

I then restart my laptop again and it has re-enabled itself.

Is there a way I can disable this completely in the registry?

To fully clarify - I do not want System Restore enabled in any way. I have no remote interest in ever using it.

Sounds like some DELL thing.
Especially if it turns on System Restore at every reboot.
When you disable System Restore, it should stay off.

The only other thing I can think of, is that some program might be turning it back on.
But that's just a guess. I'm sure someone will know for sure. :-)

I have turned System Restore Points OFF.

The setting stays OFF. After rebooting System Restore stays OFF.

Unfortunately, I turn my Dell Inspiron System Restore OFF (Have done from Day One.)
I restart my Laptop Daily and it returns to System Restore ON.

Just saying.

My testing would indicate that DELL isn't turning mine back ON. If you have had the problem since Day One, I have no explanation. I wonder if it would still happen with a Clean Install?

The reason I ask if it would still happen with a Clean Install is that I do Clean Installs.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022.

True, I actually only use it to store cookies so that I do not have to re-sign into sites after clearing history.
Deleted it now and System Restore has still stayed OFF since I deleted CCleaner yesterday.
It would appear to be a bug with CCleaner as Bree mentioned.

That's what I use it for too. If you use the Portable build as I do it has no such issues. It stores all it's settings in a .ini file and never touches the registry.

I can't rember the last time I had to sign in on any site (except perhaps my banking ones). I never sign out of forum sites, just close down the browser and/or the PC. And keeping my login cookies means that I'm already signed in when I return.
