UK has stated wine can be sold in pint measures now (EU is usually 75 cl or sub multiples.

I can hardly see the French thinking "oh we must modify our bottling plants for the only country in the world dumb enough to drink wine by the pint".

Pubs in uk push hard 250 cl measures to make sure bottles are fully used which is bad enough.

If we have pint wine bottles, they will push to sell by 1/2 pint or even 1 pint measures (omg).

Cue one for totally contravening safe alcohol intake advice.

Yeah, that's what the British media have been saying over the last few days. If you read down a bit, they also say that the legal measure will be 568ml, as metric and not imperial will still be the legal measure. So, what is called "a pint" will display as 568ml on the bottle. Wine producers are allowed to add "a pint" to their labels, but the metric measure must remain the dominant label.
The rules refers to pre-packaged drinks, rather than those served at restaurants and bars. You'll still be able to buy 750ml bottles.

Apparently you used to get pint sized champagne in Britain, but that went out when we joined the EEC, in 1973. It is like running on the spot to stand still if you ask me. Recently I had to buy a "half bottle" of wine for my dear mother, who drinks less these days because of her high blood pressure. The choice of bottles on the shelves were quite limited. In all the shop, there were only two or three varieties of wine that measured up. So the market for that size is not huge. Retrospectively, I doubt she'd care if it were 500ml or 568ml as the difference is relatively small. It is the Brexit bureaucrats that say this is what we wanted. To me, it looks like a lot of trade lost, just for the benefit of 68ml per bottle.

I can hardly see the French thinking "oh we must modify our bottling plants for the only country in the world dumb enough to drink wine by the pint".
I saw that the French have already said that they wont be producing "pint" sized wine bottles since they already offer 500ml bottles. But for the life of me I cannot remember where I read that.
