Just downloaded Windows 11..now running out of space on C Drive


If you don't run as Administrator there is a button to also clean system data. I told him to press that button to see more options in my reply. After pressing that button you see checkbox to clean Windows Update data, Previous Windows installation data etc. Check all the boxes and delete them all to free 15-20GB (including the previous Windows installation)

Had already run disk clean up
But not scrolled to the bottom to delete windows.old folder old windows 10 files.
Just did that I now have 38.5 free on C Drive
No red line lol
Am happy bunny lol

Now I have to learn more on Windows 11 and try to move more files to D Drive.

Usually it is enough to just cut-paste your data in another disk. I say cut-paste, so they are deleted from the source after they are copied to the target. You can also find tutorials how to move your user folders to the other disk so your files are automatically saved there, but they are not needed. If you change the browser settings to ask you for a download location instead of using the default Downloads and then you select any other folder, next time it remembers it and prompts you to save next download to that folder. Also in most applications if you Save As a file at another folder than the Documents, next time it remembers it and ask you to save there.

Thats a good tip Just trying to do that. I already have my Videos Music and Photos on D Drive. But still hav the original 3 folders for them on C Drive Would like to change that.
As Itunes saves music downloads there.

Then switch to the Location tab. Change the location to point to the target folder. Proceed. If prompted to copy all contents to the new location reply yes.

Use Option #1 or #2 in tutorials to move your personal folders to a new location. The bat file method is easiest but then you have to manually move the files yourself.

Just doing that thanks :-)...Now have 154GB Free!!!!! Yippee.
Dd that once years ago and made a right mess of it but it looks good so far
That is just the Pictures Video and Music folders with odds and ends in eg Amazon music few songs downloaded As always My Music Videos and Photos are in folders on D Drive.
Next step maybe Documents and Downloads lol
Also Desktop as I have a habit of saving stuff there like a real Desktop
Am sooo happy

It all went well ... so decided to move Documents folder on to D Drive
Was not a good idea and am stuck to move t back as cant find it

I know its gone to D Drive as the folders that show there in my other screenshot are My Digital and Kindle. Mixed in with the other folders Music etc, but they are not in a Documents folder Just in their own folder.
