Look, the guy in this video

started the setup.exe and his window label is saying "Windows 11 Setup".
My question is why is my setup.exe is behaving differently and is saying "Windows Server Setup". I do exactly the same as him. This is the only question i have.

You’re upgrading using an ISO via Windows as apposed to a clean install at boot. My guess is that it’s taking system information from somewhere and performing the in-place accordingly.

Its supposed to be the in-place upgrade, but where is it getting the info from? This is exactly what i want to know.
There must be a parameter in registry or whatever that says the setup "Hey, this guy wants to upgrade on unsupported hardware. Lets switch to Server". But this is not the case...

Setup reads the installed image's edition and tries to find a matching one from the ISO. That's why it doesn't bother asking what edition you want, because you're doing an in-place upgrade.

For interest sake, download the ISO again via Media Creation Tool and uncheck “Use the recommended options for this PC”

Select language for Windows 11, version 25H2 (26200.7171) amd64 on UUP dump. UUP dump lets you download Unified Update Platform files, like Windows Insider updates, directly from Windows Update.

This is what's in the download package after you extract it to a folder on your desktop.
Double click the one in the RED box, to build the ISO.

You can do a downgrade without a clean install with a registry patch.

Actually i already tried multiple ISOs, be it form MCT, direct (regular) download or the third party sites like UUP... They all do the same

It doesnt make any sense, because at this point the setup has already started with "server installation".

I also noticed the one in your computer specs, isn't compatible.

Is the OS install on this comp the same as the one on the non-compatible comp? Like a clone?

Yes. iirc i installed the 22H2 on the 6700K, then upgraded to 23H2 using some registry hacks to bypass requirements, then upgraded the computer to the new platform (14700K).
Thats why i am trying to figure out what parameters are still remaining to let the setup behave like this.

That's why you need to UNcheck that box when running the Media Creation Tool.
Sometimes we tweak things way back... that can come to haunt us in the future.

If you can't get the ISO to work... you're looking at a clean install of Windows 11.

• Confirms SKU and licensing details

PowerShell Quick Check (Terminal as admin)

That's just MS being lazy. The pic I posted just above is from the Media Creation Tool instructions, not from the mounted ISO instructions.

I didn't say to start the in-place, I mentioned that you should use Media Creation Tool to download the ISO again, but this time uncheck what has been mentioned.
