KB5006746 Breaks Printer

Instead of fixing printer problems the KB5006736 update broke my printer setup. I have an older Dell desktop running WIN10 with an even older HP P1006 LaserJet printer attached via USB. The printer is shared to my Lenovo laptop that is running Win11. If I install the update the printer quits working. The only error generated with troubleshooting returns a "Print Spooler not running" error which is a false return. The print spooler is running and set to automatic on both machines. If I uninstall the update the printer goes back to functioning normally. Frustrating.

There is currently a known issue with USB printing and Brother printers, they have their support site listing hundreds of models affected, their current state of checking and estimates of when updates (if possible) will be available. Maybe HP has/ will have a similar support site for their USB printing.
The issue seems to only affect USB printing, wireless and ethernet seem to function normally.

The last driver update for my HP printer was released in 2013. It is getting a little long in the tooth. Maybe a new printer on my christmas list is the right fix :)

Possible, though don't give up hope, my printer is a 2014 model and is on Brothers list for a fix since they still sell it, and the toner and drums. It is one of their most popular home/ small office sellers. :)

Brother's support for old printers is one of the reasons that my two laser printers are from them.

I have a HL1110 Mono Laser, it still works printing on USB after clean install of Win11 and using the current Win10 compatible drivers from Brother. :)

try this: Print Flush 1.3 – @bradkovach.blog()
After running this nifty little prog (edit: as an Administrator), my HP printer (Envy 4504) prints, but the PC has a message on screen saying that it "cannot communicate with the printer" !

:unsure:

At least the job is done !
