Insider KB5014770 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Beta Build 22621.160 - June 13

  • Staff
UPDATE 7/5:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.160 (KB5014770) to the Beta Channel.

What’s new

File Explorer Tabs & Navigation Updates

To help you work across multiple locations at the same time, the title bar of File Explorer now has tabs. We’d love your feedback on which tabs features you’d like to see next.

File Explorer with tabs and navigation updates.
File Explorer with tabs and navigation updates.

File Explorer is also introducing a refreshed layout of the left navigation pane which makes it easy for you to navigate to folders that matter to you. The updated organization provides easy access to your pinned and frequently used folders (Quick access) and your OneDrive cloud profiles added to Windows. OneDrive cloud profiles reflect the user’s name associated with the account. Known Windows folders which are available by default in the navigation pane are no longer displayed under This PC to keep that view focused for your PC’s drives. When you navigate to folders syncing to OneDrive such as Documents, Pictures, etc., the address bar displays the correct path to help bring clarity when your folders are on the cloud vs when they are local to you.

[We are beginning to roll this feature out, so it isn’t available to all Insiders in the Beta Channel just yet as we plan to monitor feedback and see how it lands before pushing it out to everyone.]

FEEDBACK: Please file feedback in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Files, Folders, and Online Storage > File Explorer.

Known issues

[File Explorer]

  • The up arrow is misaligned in File Explorer tabs. This will be fixed in a future update.

About the Beta Channel

The Beta Channel will be the place we preview experiences that are closer to what we will ship to our general customers. Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first. However, this does not mean every feature we try out in the Beta Channel will ship. We encourage Insiders to read this blog post from last month that outlines the ways we’ll try things out with Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels.

Yes, those 3 worked for me too with 22621.160, those are the 3 names found with GUI, the same as in Build 25136.1000

Hm. It's nice to know you can use a third-party app to get them, but I think I'll pass. I'll just suffer until they update me with tabs.

Aye, in my eyes, the whole point of Beta testing is to use the software as supplied.

If you use third party tools to activate hidden settings, then no, don't report issues because your not supposed to have them enabled so it defeats the purpose. but enabling certain settings doesn't always alter the whole system.

BTW, Vivo toool is just a command activator. Tabs are included in all versions but not activated everywhere. If this where an alfa version then probably some users wouldn't even have the option in the OS. It's a beta so....

Besides, they know that there are some delinquents out there ;-)

Glad to see it's a CU. Would've been a waste of time to release an entire build for this little change. 22621 sure appears to be heading for a final official release. Installed through WU update perfectly, glad to say. required a reboot. But...these days it's hardly a burden.

Sweet, trouble-free system! How I love this 6900XT! Exceeds my expectations by quite a bit, btw.

Installed manually, went fine...

Although oddly, WU still showing KB5014770 as available. Just took it, seemed to be happy, no reboot required.

Aye, in my eyes, the whole point of Beta testing is to use the software as supplied.
The whole point is to test and give a valid feedback to fix the bugs.
If they keep doing this silly A/B testing they will never get reliable feedback.
They should send out the same features to all insider users to get consistent behavior and valid feedback.
Enabling the features just to a small number of users is quite useless.
But that is the typical MS illogical way of testing.
That is another reason why many bugs are never fixed and end up in the public released builds.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

- Tabs Explorer can be just reverted JUST LIKE THAT and vivetool should be re-launched with valid codes.
- For some reason DEL button does nothing in directory with files. Moving to Address bar and delete text with DEL "resolve issue"
- Explorer is laggy for some reason
- They splitted Folders and devices (My Computer). Now in My Computer are devices only - not common used folders.
- Some words are not translated to native language (used en_US)

    Mostly build for gaming.
problem with that is the vast majority test, but don't report anything. The point of testing is to report it, not just use and then post "I like it!" or "I hate it!".

I got it on 25136.1000 without doing anything.
But on 22621.160 I had to turn these on myself.

One issue I noticed, when File Explorer Tabs are enabled, the Accent color is missing on the title bar.

Without file explorer Tabs I get the accent color in the title bar as per my settings:

With Tabs enabled, no accent color in title bar:
1655256454035.png

1655256514682.png

File Explorer with Tabs should have the same accent color scheme in the title bar like Edge web browser with tabs, see below. 😉😉

I have W11 22621.160 and until yesterday I didn't have TABs in the new File Explorer too.
But today I wake up, turn on my laptop and...Voila, TABs are working.
I didn't do anything and nothing new was installed. I don't know what has happened.

I have W11 22621.160 and until yesterday I didn't have TABs in the new File Explorer too.
But today I wake up, turn on my laptop and...Voila, TABs are working.
I didn't do anything and nothing new was installed. I don't know what has happened.
it being rolled out guess it was your turn to get it

Epic fail this build

Can't do any Ping's, Openssh server not working properly, Filezilla can't reach anything on a local network, Ms store broken beyond repair, can't access the security dashboard, network as often in Windows is totally hosed up. Again EPIC FAIL on new install !!!!.

The only way I can get this build working is to clone a W10 install and upgrade from that.

What a Dogs dinner of a mess for a "Presumably" RTM build that maybe 100,000's or more might be using. and will be installing clean from new.

Advice -- if you are on the preview 25xxx build(s) stick with that one - and leave this one for the Tip. Or if you MUST have it - upgrade --don't even THINK of clean install.

Cheers
jimbo

I've had no such issues with .160, sounds like your firewall rules maybe got corrupted. Open up the Advanced Firewall applet and poke around there.
