Insider KB5014770 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Beta Build 22621.160 - June 13

  • Staff
Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.160 (KB5014770) to the Beta Channel.

What’s new

File Explorer Tabs & Navigation Updates

To help you work across multiple locations at the same time, the title bar of File Explorer now has tabs. We’d love your feedback on which tabs features you’d like to see next.

File Explorer with tabs and navigation updates.
File Explorer with tabs and navigation updates.

File Explorer is also introducing a refreshed layout of the left navigation pane which makes it easy for you to navigate to folders that matter to you. The updated organization provides easy access to your pinned and frequently used folders (Quick access) and your OneDrive cloud profiles added to Windows. OneDrive cloud profiles reflect the user’s name associated with the account. Known Windows folders which are available by default in the navigation pane are no longer displayed under This PC to keep that view focused for your PC’s drives. When you navigate to folders syncing to OneDrive such as Documents, Pictures, etc., the address bar displays the correct path to help bring clarity when your folders are on the cloud vs when they are local to you.

[We are beginning to roll this feature out, so it isn’t available to all Insiders in the Beta Channel just yet as we plan to monitor feedback and see how it lands before pushing it out to everyone.]

FEEDBACK: Please file feedback in Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Files, Folders, and Online Storage > File Explorer.

Known issues

[File Explorer]

  • The up arrow is misaligned in File Explorer tabs. This will be fixed in a future update.

About the Beta Channel

The Beta Channel will be the place we preview experiences that are closer to what we will ship to our general customers. Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first. However, this does not mean every feature we try out in the Beta Channel will ship. We encourage Insiders to read this blog post from last month that outlines the ways we’ll try things out with Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels.

Amanda & Brandon

Epic fail this build

Can't do any Ping's, Openssh server not working properly, Filezilla can't reach anything on a local network, Ms store broken beyond repair, can't access the security dashboard, network as often in Windows is totally hosed up. Again EPIC FAIL on new install !!!!.

The only way I can get this build working is to clone a W10 install and upgrade from that.

What a Dogs dinner of a mess for a "Presumably" RTM build that maybe 100,000's or more might be using. and will be installing clean from new.

Advice -- if you are on the preview 25xxx build(s) stick with that one - and leave this one for the Tip. Or if you MUST have it - upgrade --don't even THINK of clean install.

Cheers
jimbo
I've only tried the MS Store. It works for me. Who knows what's going on with this build, though...

might want to take a look at a snitching firewall wrapper, like Windows Firewall Control (www.binisoft.org) this was a donateware app that was purchased a while ago by Malwarebytes (and is now freeware). Been using it for years, fantastic kit it is. Enable notifications and I'd bet you have something blocking some types of outbound traffic

I got it on 25136.1000 without doing anything.
But on 22621.160 I had to turn these on myself.

39145991 (NWMTest1)
37634385 (TIFE)
36354489 (SV2Navpane)
So I tried again with all three and it worked!

Hi, maybe this can help you, try disabling the items checkbox and restart the computer, it happened to me once and I solved that way.

That's the thing - it's already disabled, and I restarted the system. I'll enabling it, disabling it, and then restarting the system.

I've had it up to the eyballs with "I.T" from the "Sub continent". Tried "Check Eligibilty for W11" on a reasonably good modern laptop with probably no probs for upgrade to W11 while it's currently running W10.

The Site won't download the app but just "Sodd---ng" tells you "How to use it".

Don't these Bozos EVER CHECK THEIR STUFF".

I love "Indian Curry" -- although usually cooked by Bangladeshi Chefs -- but Indian I.T -- Please -- and how has that become the biggest off shoring suppliers on the planet".

I'm not that "Racist" normally but I.T from that particular area of the world from one reason or another hasn't particularly enhanced users of computers or services whether from giant corporations or individuals.

Cheers
jimbo

Here's the wretched thing I was complaining about 2 posts ago.

How can I check the wretched thing when the app won't download or doesn't exist. The link Check whether PC can run W11 just comes here !!!!

Capture.PNG

I'm not normally vindictive by nature but this is MEGA BONKERS. !!!

The PC is currently running this version of W10.

Here's the wretched thing I was complaining about 2 posts ago.

How can I check the wretched thing when the app won't download or doesn't exist. The link Check whether PC can run W11 just comes here !!!!

The PC is currently running this version of W10.

Cheers

The instructions on the page you show says to use the search bar and it will install it.

How to open PC Health Check

In Windows, use Search on the taskbar to search for “PC Health Check,” then select it from the list of results.

If a PC Health Check update is available, you can quickly install it for the latest version.

Here is another link:

If not try this link:

There are many links you can find on the web that will let you download the PC Health Check for Windows 11.

did anyone get this working with the latest Rp ring build 22621.105?
If you are referring to File Explorer Tabs, it is not available with 22621.105, you need Beta 22621.160 or Dev 25136.1000

I have W11 22621.160 and until yesterday I didn't have TABs in the new File Explorer too.
But today I wake up, turn on my laptop and...Voila, TABs are working.
I didn't do anything and nothing new was installed. I don't know what has happened.

Same here. The tabs were not there this morning, but they are now. I haven't changed anything nor rebooted.

There are a couple of things I noticed MS has fixed in the GUI API's

The rounded corners work now as well as switching between Dark and Light mode whilst the app is running.

@Cliff S mentioned that the original change in ShowKeyPlus (when we moved to the Win 11 theme) the corners had a break in the Accent colour in the upper corner...
Also switching in Settings-> Colours between Light and Dark resulted in the background changing but the text remaining in the old theme colour - this has also been fixed.

I have been racking my brain how to fix these.. so thanx MS

For me, something lower level, under the covers, is fixed in this build... WSA had been resetting often, sometimes a couple times per day.. Since I've installed .160 WSA has not reset one single time, on the third day now.

Yup there are things that are not obvious - thus I try to stay updated.. In my case more to see if an update breaks my apps, but sometimes the opposite... it actually fixes things.

I now have tabs on 2 out of 3 PCs, the one not having them being the wife's. She was having problems with the Microsoft Store so I had to do a repair install this morning which fixed it. So I wonder if the availability of tabs is time-based from installation? Will wait and see.
