Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Build 22621.457 (KB5016695) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 22H2.

This non-security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:
  • New! We enhanced Microsoft Defender for Endpoint’s ability to identify and intercept ransomware and advanced attacks.
  • New! We compressed a file regardless of its size if you have configured Server Message Block (SMB) Compression.
  • New! We improved storage replication that occurs over low bandwidth or congested wide area networks (WAN).
  • New! You can now view the usage history for the following resources from the Settings page:
  • Camera
  • Microphone
  • Phone Calls
  • Messaging
  • Contacts
  • Screenshots and apps
  • Music library
To use this feature, navigate to Settings >Privacy & Security
  • We fixed an issue that causes Windows to display tablet mode features for some devices that do not have touchscreens.
  • We fixed an issue that causes some application windows to have blank sections in the Task View preview.
  • We fixed an issue that occurs for some of you when you copy files from network drives. The error code is 0x80070026.
  • We fixed an issue that might cause the Local Security Authority Server Service (LSASS) to leak tokens. This issue affects devices that have installed Windows updates dated June 14, 2022 or later. This issue occurs when the device performs a specific form of service for user (S4U) in a non-Trusted Computing Base (TCB) Windows service that runs as Network Service.
  • We fixed an issue that, in certain cases, causes sihost.exe to use a high amount of the CPU.
  • We fixed an issue that causes Microsoft Edge to stop responding when you use IE mode. This issue also prevents you from interacting with a dialog. 40242609
  • We fixed an issue that causes the App-V client service to leak memory when you delete App-V registry nodes.
  • We fixed an issue that prevents you from opening a URL if the URL’s length is more than 2084 characters. This update supports a URL of up to 8192 characters.
  • We fixed an issue that prevents codecs from being updated from the Microsoft Store.
  • We fixed an issue that causes ServerAssignedConfigurations to be null in a few full configuration scenarios.
  • We fixed an issue that sometimes prematurely interrupts the resizing operations of a Snap Assist area.
  • We fixed an issue that might cause the deployment of the Windows Hello for Business certificate to fail in certain circumstances after you reset a device.
  • We fixed an issue that prevents you from reinstalling Universal Printers after you remove them.
  • We fixed an issue that prevents non-Windows devices from authenticating when they connect to a Windows-based remote desktop and use a smart card as the authentication method.
  • We fixed an issue that causes the Settings app to stop working on server domain controllers (DCs) when accessing the Privacy > Activity history page.
  • We fixed an issue that affects a lookup for a nonexistent security ID (SID) from the local domain using read-only domain controller (RODC). The lookup unexpectedly returns the STATUS_TRUSTED_DOMAIN_FAILURE error instead of STATUS_NONE_MAPPED or STATUS_SOME_MAPPED.
  • We fixed an issue that prevents the Storage Migration Service (SMS) from completing the inventory on servers that have many shares. Error event 2509 appears in Microsoft-Windows-StorageMigrationService/Admin channel (ErrorId=-2146233088/ErrorMessage=”Invalid table id”).
  • We fixed an issue that affects the Sync across your devices option under Settings > System > Clipboard. The option will not remain enabled.

Guilty as charged - I'm one of those miscreants:wink:

I have Dev, Beta and RP as VMs on a fully supported Host machine, and RP Pro on one unsupported device, with RP Home on another.
Don't even have to sign in with a Microsoft account, in all cases I can swicth channels at will with the OfflineInsiderEnroll script from GitHub.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

After not getting build 22621.457, I finally decided to update this through UUP. Interestingly, I noticed that when updating to UUP, right after the install process, I get the download via Windows Update for this build. I also had not been offered BETA update. Did the same, updating with UUP and right after installation of new BETA build, I received Windows Update for Beta build. This happened on both my computers that are on Insider track and updated through UUP. WU decides to download AFTER the UUP update. What is with that? Does that always happen? I don't use UUP as a rule so I was really wondering if that is the normal happening?

Seems that 22621.457 Has a mind of it's own.

If you update with ISO (mounting with UUP created ISO), after install it will offer the update but you can't get rid of the update. Also launches (lot's of users not all) event 360 Hello Enterprise event 1108.

I didn't clean install, but this 22h2 doesn't seem fully operational on the upgrade platform. o_O

Seems that like you can see with Magilla, not everyone gets the Hello version. Do you have a volume license or enterprise Windows?

Is this why I cannot download insider updates for new builds for RP or BETA because of this error? But the Dev updates come through??

Are you getting this update ? KB5016695. If so, I don't know if there is a fix. Repairing Win Update did nothing on my side. I don't see the issue brought on Insider because it should be installed as an update not an upgrade.

1108, 360 and 6155 are all part of hello (seems to use credential guard). I don't know what common denominator triggers it. Is it having pin enabled? I do do you have it enabled? @magilla, you don't have pin enabled ?

There is a mention for these errors in insider feedback.
In recent builds Credential Guard is now enabled by default on Windows 11 Enterprise (E3 and E5) licensed PCs that are enterprise-joined, which is likely why you started seeing this

There is no mention of a fix.

As for the KBKB5016695 being offered after upgrade that is a serious bug.

Managing Defender credential guard. Disabling may cause issues. I haven't read everything so I can't elaborate on details. Playing around with new security settings can be problematic. It may cause to lose credentials or data on drives or change logging management (like disabling Hello business forces you to use a 6 digit PIN).

This is only supposed to be activated on enterprise versions but the same errors show up on Pro version when upgraded to 22621.457 or any version of 22H2 for that matter.

In my current version of Widows Credential guard is turned off. I did not check if it was turned on when I upgraded to 22621.457 but I did get the errors as if it was enabled.

that was first i did and disabling virtualization security butt errors still were happening

Like I mentioned, There is a bug with activation and messages.

If you want to hide messages: Event 1108 is a general event and you can't disable it. At least I was not able.

thnx for workaround.. i'll wait for full 22h2 release and clean install again so hopefully it will be fixed it doesnt influence performance but its just annoying
