Insider KB5017384 Windows 11 Insider Beta Build 22621.601 and 22622.601 - Sept. 21

UPDATE 9/29:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.601 and Build 22622.601 (KB5017384) to the Beta Channel.
  • Build 22622.601 = New features rolling out.
  • Build 22621.601 = New features off by default.

KB5015669 Enablement Package for Windows 11 22H2 build 22622.xxx

As a reminder, Insiders who landed in the group with new features turned off by default (Build 22621.xxxx) can check for updates and choose to install the update that will have features rolling out (Build 22622.xxx).

Fixes for BOTH Build 22621.601 & Build 22622.601

  • We fixed the issue where clicking the network icon on the Lock screen would not work and would crash the Lock screen.
  • We updated the start date for daylight saving time in Chile. It will start on September 11, 2022 instead of on September 4, 2022.
  • We reduced the power that the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol uses on some devices when they are in Sleep mode.
  • We fixed an issue that affects Dual SIM calling. If you select no SIM on your phone and initiate a call on your device, Dual SIM functionality does not work.

Known issues

[General]

  • We’re looking into reports that audio stopped working for some Insiders in recent Beta Channel builds.

About the Beta Channel

The Beta Channel will be the place we preview experiences that are closer to what we will ship to our general customers. Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first. However, this does not mean every feature we try out in the Beta Channel will ship. We encourage Insiders to read this blog post that outlines the ways we’ll try things out with Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels.

Hi there
another way is to have separate windows installs as vhdx files (even external disks) - then if your update doesn't go as planned just flip the boot order in the Windows standard boot menu and do what you want with the other windows system - even clean install. For these things messing around with Macrium etc is a pain. It's much easier to boot Windows !!!!

For example : Windows 10, Windows 11(Insider builds) Windows PE, W11 Icelandic, W11 English

Jimbo,

Macrium is child's play, literally...;) Nothing to it. It's much faster than Windows, too, for this kind of utility. There's even a free version of it that works and is updated just like the commercial version (which has a few bells and whistles most people don't need at home.) Just thought I'd mention it.

Yep that's fine too -- but sometimes its worth having more than one windows install -- many solutions -- as I think the Brits say (although they seem to have lot more on their plate at the moment) is "Horses for Courses".

Most of this stuff is really "There's no one size fits all".

Use whatever works and is convenient to your methodolgy and requirements, and yes Macrium is excellent.

Why are we Beta Insiders getting Dev Channel Update Stack Packages? Stacks would make sense if they were in preparation for those of us who are Queued for unenrollment from the Windows Insider Program.

" Through an Update Stack Package, Microsoft officials said they'll be able to deliver improvements to the update process before a PC actually takes a monthly or a feature update."

"The Update Stack Package will help ensure that your PC has the highest likelihood of successfully installing new updates with the best and least disruptive experience available," Quotes from ZD NET.

Outlook 2019 and 2021 cannot connect to email servers on this release (at least my versions don't work). I know it's not the office program or internet connectivity with the servers -- all pingable and because these versions of OUTLOOK work perfectly on the RP build. I also checked claws-email on my linux server and there was no problem sending / receiving email . I can SEE email up to yesterday but that's it - can't send or receive new email

Message is something like failed to sync to subscribed imap folders or something weird.

I don't want to try deleting and re-creating accounts -- it's a real pain to re-create address books if you want to do the whole thing from scratch.

I don't know what it was but I ran a complete scan with WD of the infected windows disk from a separate Windows system and it found 3 pieces of malware all labled as severe pointing to some .rar file referenced by indirect links so not possible to delete directly with File explorer -- even of one could find the file-- so I must have been a naughty boy and opened some potentially silly attachment.

Cleansed (removed) and its all fine now -- so marking solved. I had no luck trying to remove the malware from the SAME windows system which is why I think it's always better to do this stuff from another system and use the custom scan options. The red warning just came back very few minutes after trying to remove it. Using the external system cleared the malware. There were no exclusiond sctive on the infected system.

so this problem is solved.

Cheers
