REMINDER: Insiders who were previously on Build 22622 will automatically get moved to Build 22623 via an enablement package. The enablement package artificially increments the build number for the update with new features getting rolled out and turned on to make it easier to differentiate from devices with the update with features off by default. This approach is being used for the Beta Channel only and is not indicative of any changes or plans for final feature rollouts.

Insiders who landed in the group with new features turned off by default (Build 22621.xxxx) can check for updates and choose to install the update that will have features rolling out (Build 22623.xxx).

Filter processes: We are bringing process filtering to Task Manager. This is the top feature request from our users to filter/search for processes. You can filter either using the binary name, PID or publisher name. The filter algorithm matches the context keyword with all possible matches and displays them on the current page. The filter is also applied as you switch between pages. You can also use the keyboard shortcut ALT + F to focus on the filter box. This is a helpful feature if you want to single out a process or a group of processes and want to take action or just monitor the performance of the filtered processes.

The new search box at the top of Task Manager allows you to filter Binary name, PID or Publisher name.


Better theme support: We have added the ability to use your preferred theme in Task Manager regardless of the active theme in Windows. You can set it in the setting page in Task Manager.

You can set your preferred theme specifically for Task Manager regardless of your chosen Windows theme.


Task Manager now also supports themes for in-app dialogs. All dialog except for “Run new task” and Properties dialog now support themes and will adhere to either app specific theme or Windows theme.

In-app dialogs such as selecting columns on the Details page will show in the selected theme for Task Manager.


Improved Efficiency mode dialog: We are making it easy for you to apply Efficiency mode and offering the ability to opt-out of the confirmation dialog.   • When using the bottom right edge gesture to see Quick Settings, the taskbar should no longer get stuck in the expanded state (instead of dismissing to collapsed state).
  • Fixed an issue causing the do not disturb icon to disappear while in do not disturb mode.
  • The new show hidden icons flyout’s animation should now be consistent with other taskbar flyouts.
  • The show hidden icons flyout background color should now align with your accent color if “Show accent color on Start and taskbar” is enabled in Settings > Personalization > Colors.
  • Fixed multiple explorer.exe crashes impacting taskbar performance.
Fixes for BOTH Build 22621.891 & Build 22623.891
  • New! You can back up applicable settings to your Microsoft account. You can also sync these settings on any Windows device and in Microsoft Office.
  • We fixed an issue that affected File Explorer. It failed to localize folders.
  • We fixed an issue that affected the CopyFile function. It might have sometimes returned error 317: ERROR_MR_MID_NOT_FOUND.
  • We fixed an issue that affected process creation. It failed to create security audits for it and other related audit events.
  • We fixed an issue that affected printing in landscape mode in Microsoft Edge. The print output was incorrect. This issue occurred when you used Microsoft Defender Application Guard.
  • We fixed an issue that affected Microsoft Defender when it was not the primary antivirus. Microsoft Defender failed to turn off passive mode. This issue occurred when you turn off Smart App Control (SAC).
  • We added .wcx to the list of Dangerous Extensions that some app control policies do not allow.
  • We fixed an issue that affected a computer account. Use of non-standard characters can stop the cleanup of the Out of Box Experience (OOBE) accounts.
  • We fixed an issue that affected the Windows Firewall service. It did not start when you turned on the Override block rules option.
  • We fixed an issue that might have affected applications that run on the Windows Lock Down Policy (WLDP). They might have stopped working.
Known issues

[General]
  • We’re looking into reports that audio stopped working for some Insiders in recent Beta Channel builds.
[Taskbar & System Tray]
  • The taskbar sometimes flashes when transitioning between desktop posture and tablet posture.
  • The taskbar takes longer than expected to transition to the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop posture and tablet posture.
[Task Manager]
  • [NEW] Filtering by publisher name does not match correctly on the Processes page.
  • [NEW] Some services may not show in the Services page after filtering is applied.
  • [NEW] If a new process is starting while a filter is set, then that process may appear for a split second in the filtered list.
  • [NEW] The delete key and tooltip are not working on the filter input box.
  • [NEW] Some dialogs may not render in the correct theme when applied from Task Manager Settings page.
  • [NEW] The data content area of the Processes page may flash once when theme changes are applied in the Task Manager Settings page.
  • [NEW] There’s an issue we’re investigating where Task Manager isn’t displaying light and dark content correctly, leading to unreadable text. This happens when you have your mode in Settings > Personalization > Colors set to Custom – as a workaround for the time being, please switch it to Light or Dark.

I just noticed yet another bug, when I switch to auto hide the taskbar all my desktop icons change position and get all mixed up. 🤣
I turn autohide back off and the desktop goes back to normal. 🤷‍♂️
Same problem with current public Build 22621.816.

The extended systray will hide but the taskbar stays up and this install is just a few hours old.

Edit: I just noticed that if I double click on the search icon in the taskbar it will hide until I click on something else in the taskbar.

Are you familiar with ViveTool at all?
You could fix the system tray Icon Rearrange if you know how to use that tool.

Hiding the taskbar is more important to me than arranging the systray icons so I rolled back and will wait for MS to fix it.

I ran into some rather serious problems with 22623.891. What seems to have occurred in my case was that the enablement packages bugged my systray and even my GPU drivers (22.10.2 WHQL & 22.10.3 Beta) to the extent that I could no longer access my GPU driver interface through any method, including CLI, Start Menu, systray icon (which never appeared!), or desktop shortcuts, hotkeys, etc. A driver was installed, but the options Interface (Full Install) was not accessible ! I spent a couple of hours troubleshooting it. The enablement packages knocked out my GPU driver control interface, the CPL. It would not run or open, at all. Either from the desktop or within a game.

The good news is I managed to fix the problem, finally. I uninstalled both enablement packages, rebooted, did a factory install from the GPU driver-install interface, and rebooted again, and the system returned to normal operation afterwards. It was a serious problem in my system.

After uninstalling the enablement packages, winver now reports I am on 22621.891. Fine with me, as a non-working system does me no good at all. Taking this report to the HUB now.

Second Update: OK, I have resolved the original problem above. I decided to go back to Win Update to see if anything had changed, just because....And as I was on 22621.891 I was surprised that Win Update wanted to update me to 22622.601...released back in September. I allowed it, figuring I'd have to progressively install updates until I got to 22623.891. Well, WU took me directly to 22623.891, after deciding I didn't need 22622.601 after all! And now the previous problems as mentioned above are gone--everything is fine. I can only guess somewhere along the upgrade path something got foo barred and was corrected by WU when it took me back to 22623.891. I did notice that the order of installed updates had changed, as reported by Programs & Files, so maybe that was it...The joys of Beta.

Great New system. Exceeds my expectations by quite a bit, btw. I love the USB G8 SoundBlaster, it's quite an improvement over the G6!
Since using an AMD gpu in W11 I've had to use the group policy editor and stop WU driver updates to prevent it from usurping my adrenaline install. My other pc's with nvidia gpu's don't have that issue as it leaves the drivers alone. Strangely my laptop with a mobile rtx 3060 and AMD 5800H IGP has no problems with WU usurping the adrenaline install. That mobile gpu is barely stronger than my old gtx 1080 amp desktop GPU.

After rolling back I am showing 22622.819 since I had the 623 enablement package before attempting the 891 CU. On a side note I probably won't be on this hardware much longer as I keep having unresolved USB issues that keep on growing and have now spread to the 3.1 front panel headers. If Asus gets their ROG Maximus Z790 Hero boards in stock soon I will be moving back to Intel and a 13900k based system.

Yes, I stopped driver updates through GP about three years ago, as I recall, in Win10. When I upgraded to Win11, the setting was carried over to present day. It's still working fine. This was something else, entirely. But as I mention in the post it has reconciled itself--likely an error through WU that was corrected by the reinstall of the updates. Thanks for the suggestion. I actually don't have many problems at all with AMD drivers--this particular problem was due to Win11 build install errors. I've had zero problems with USB, front or rear. Sorry to hear of your problems. Good luck with your upcoming Intel system...;)

I had that with my System One below. All I did was roll back the driver in Device Manager to get Adrenaline working again, after which Windows never tried to update the driver again.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

WU did it to me more than once which is why I used GPE to stop it from recurring.

On second thoughts, I think the "Automatically hide the Taskbar" option is working ok for me.

When I move my pointer to screen-bottom, the bar raises ok, I then select an icon, which opens the corresponding functionality and the Taskbar hides. I can repeat the above as often as I like. On closing a Taskbar sourced App, the Taskbar raises for further use but hides if I click on some other running App. If I instead select another Taskbar icon, it launches and the Taskbar hides.

After I did the update, I think I had to select Start to hide the Taskbar. That is no longer the case. The only significant action I have taken is to use the Windows Cleanup tool to free up Temp space.

If you are referring to the new search/filter slot, seems to be the default for Build 22623.891 as 11/14/2022.
It was pulled back from 25236 because the filter was not working correctly on that Dev Build. 🤷‍♂️

When I rolled back it took away the right click taskmanager from the taskbar.

I turned Widgets off in the previous release, so maybe that's a contributing factor to my Taskbar working so well.

After many tries I finally got 22623.891 to be usable. I had to change my background to a color of black that matched the taskbar. This build seems to be quicker. The systray , I just turned all of them off and placed one on at a time Thanks to @f14tomcat for that tip. :thumbsup:
