Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.1771

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues in this update

Applies toSymptomWorkaround
IT adminsUsing provisioning packages on Windows 11, version 22H2 (also called Windows 11 2022 Update) might not work as expected. Windows might only be partially configured, and the Out Of Box Experience might not finish or might restart unexpectedly. Provisioning packages are .PPKG files which are used to help configure new devices for use on business or school networks. Provisioning packages which are applied during initial setup are most likely to be impacted by this issue. For more information on provisioning packages, please see Provisioning packages for Windows.

Note Provisioning Windows devices using Windows Autopilot is not affected by this issue.

Windows devices used by consumers in their home or small offices are not likely to be affected by this issue.
If you can provision the Windows device before upgrading to Windows 11, version 22H2, this will prevent the issue.

We are presently investigating and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
IT adminsYou might have intermittent issues saving, copying, or attaching files using 32-bit apps, which are large address aware and using the CopyFile API. Windows devices are more likely to be affected by this issue when using some commercial or enterprise security software that uses extended file attributes. Microsoft Office apps, such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel are only affected when using 32-bit versions and you might receive the error, "Document not saved."

This issue is unlikely to be experienced by consumers using Windows devices in their home or on non-managed commercial devices. Apps are not affected by this issue if they are 64-bit or 32-bit and NOT large address aware.
To mitigate the issue, you can attempt to save or copy again. Since the issue is intermittent, it is likely to succeed on a subsequent try.

We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

How to get this update

Before installing this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates and Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions.

Install this update

Release ChannelAvailableNext Step
Windows Update or Microsoft UpdateYesGo to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. In the Optional updates available area, you’ll find the link to download and install the update.
Windows Update for BusinessNoNone. These changes will be included in the next security update to this channel.
Microsoft Update CatalogYesTo get the standalone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)NoYou can import this update into WSUS manually. See the Microsoft Update Catalog for instructions.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

Just now did the 1778 update on my System Two.
My clock shows seconds.

I'm not an Insider and I don't run beta software or operating systems.

It did not matter which order; I just compared the features on a machine that worked with one that did not and found the one that was disabled.
Maybe you are missing some other (MTestuxnn)?
I may be able to upload a .txt file with all the features configurations on one of my machines so you can compare. It is a tedious work. 😎

Restart Explorer was not enough... had to reboot after the vivetool numbers.

NOTE: Moment 3 turns on the stupid Print Screen key opens the Snipping Tool.

I always reboot to make sure the changes are picked up. Some may not need it, but most do need a reboot. 🤷‍♂️

I enabled 41655236, then re-enabled 41314201, then rebooted.
That gave me the Moment 3 stuff and the seconds on the clock.

Scroll down a bit, here... to the: Enable Moment 3 features section.

Hmmm, I found this one disabled on my beta machine that won't show seconds but when I enable it and reboot it goes back to disabled so no seconds for me on that one.
Works fine on my Beta 22624.1755, I was set like this below, don't know what priority:EKB(1) means. 🤷‍♂️

Ok, I updated this topic to include the enabling of the Moment 3 features...

The "Moment 3 features" may or may not be enabled after the May 24th 2023 update.
It the PrtSc (Print Screen) key, opens the Snipping Tool, then the "Moment 3 features" are enabled.

In Settings, you can set the PrtSc key back to it's normal function, if desired, and still retain the other "Moment 3 features".

List of "Moment 3 features"...

Any problem with MS Store updates?
Phone link is just sitting there on download but downloading nothing, few other default APPs updated.

Do you have this option available on Windows update settings More options?
Could be either On or Off as long that the option is present.
MS Store fails to download any update if this option is completely missing with Build 22621.1778,
it works fine at 22621.1702 even if this option was missing. 🤣😜🤷‍♂️

1684991268643.png

It shows a triangle with exclamation mark every time it checks for updates.

You are fine because you have that Option present in W.U. settings.
Some machine did not have that option and they failed.
I had to make it available with vivetool, this below is the name and the ID for that option in the W.U. settings.
With that option missing it fails. 😝🤬🤷‍♂️
With that option present either set On or Off the problem goes away. 🤐🤐

Don't know if that matters but I also set WU on "Warn only" without automatic updates. I check for updates first thing in the morning,

I'm having problems with this update. During installation and reboots it stops at 7% installing and then reverts the installation, because it somehow failed. Anybody else with the same problem?

Error code: 0x80070570

I didn't have this problem with previous updates.

Specs:
AMD R9 5900hx
RTX 3070 Mobile
Windows 11 Pro x64

REPORT: fixed with CHKDSK F: /f /r /x in CMD (as administrator)
