Highlights​

  • This update addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.

Improvements​

This security update includes improvements that were a part of update KB5026446 (released May 24, 2023). When you install this KB:
  • This update addresses a known issue that affects 32-bit apps that are large address aware and use the CopyFile API. You might have issues when you save, copy, or attach files. If you use some commercial or enterprise security software that uses extended file attributes, this issue will likely affect you. For Microsoft Office apps, this issue only affects the 32-bit versions. You might receive the error, "Document not saved."
  • This update addresses a compatibility issue. The issue occurs because of unsupported use of the registry.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects the Windows Kernel. This issue is related to CVE-2023-32019. To learn more, see KB5028407.
If you installed earlier updates, only the new updates contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.1771​

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

IT adminsUsing provisioning packages on Windows 11, version 22H2 (also called Windows 11 2022 Update) might not work as expected. Windows might only be partially configured, and the Out Of Box Experience might not finish or might restart unexpectedly. Provisioning packages are .PPKG files which are used to help configure new devices for use on business or school networks. Provisioning packages which are applied during initial setup are most likely to be impacted by this issue. For more information on provisioning packages, please see Provisioning packages for Windows.

Note Provisioning Windows devices using Windows Autopilot is not affected by this issue.

Windows devices used by consumers in their home or small offices are not likely to be affected by this issue.		If you can provision the Windows device before upgrading to Windows 11, version 22H2, this will prevent the issue.

We are presently investigating and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

Oh. Yeah, I don't use that. I just use command prompt.
I tried Vivetool GUI, but it seemed like there was too much room for error.
Command prompt is much simpler.

Yup, have had it but didn't use it, I did just turn it on, and it did update whatever and asked for a restart, I did the restart, and yes the sec do show now.

I turned it off again since I don't much care about being a beta tester or some insider, all I wanted was this simple option which seems should have been available all along.

    Bought off eBay, working OK, setting up 11 is a pain.
Installed fine on my PC as usual but I always run sfc /scannow and dism /scanhealth post-install and sfc found corrupted files for the first time since I started using Windows 11 Pro last December when I got my new system with the operating system installed.

I've the identical build after updating today and now have the option. Haven't tried anything before this to get the option, no reg hacks or anything extra installed.

I would think your animated avatar probably causes more CPU usage as well ;-) but in all honesty I see no difference in average CPU usage with or without seconds enabled... or having your avatar flashing away.

I have two approved W11 installs. One is a Samsung Spin 7 laptop the other is an Intel NUC11PAHi5 BOTH utilize ExplorerPatcher V22621.1555.55.1. When I did the update in the Spin 7 I got the black screen with and active mouse pointer. So I 3 finger restarted (CTRL+ALT+DEL) it and all is well. Now, since that happened on the Spin7 I uninstalled ExplorerPatcher on the NUC and then let it update and all went just fine no issue.....UNTIL I reinstalled ExplorerPatcher as soon as it finished the screen went black but the 3 finger reset worked and all is well.

I think that's the judicious thing to do: ON just long enough to get the "current" latest update, then OFF until another update occurs and you are missing a feature others got with that update.

It was made available in build 1848 for most users.

MS announced a while ago that that feature would be "rolled out," which is their code expression for "made available by lottery." Your assumption is probably invalid in this case. More likely, your lottery number for the feature just hasn't come up yet. Patience, my friend.

You can always try the [ON, then OFF after the update]-trick. I'd be willing to bet you'll get the setting after the update action happens, if you've got build 1848.

With 22621.1848 it changed like this below on one desktop, and the Store now updates fine. 🤷‍♂️

Without that feature enabled the store updates fail as showing here, with the warning triangle and no other explanation for the problem. 🤣🤷‍♂️

As for the seconds option in taskbar clock, it is enabled by these 2 feature IDs:

After updating I got version 10.0.22621.1848 and I dont have option "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" and the Microsoft Store does not update either, showing the Triangle. How do I fix this please? I set 42921948 to enabled in vivetool?
Edit: Yes this fixed it! Thanks!

P.S. The question remains, why these features along with seconds, are not enabled after successfully installing the updates?

Did you try Device Manager > Network adapter > Wi-fi / Wireless > Driver tab > update driver?
