Highlights​

  • This update addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.

Improvements​

This security update includes improvements that were a part of update KB5028254 (released July 26, 2023). When you install this KB:
  • This update makes miscellaneous security improvements to internal OS functionality. No additional issues were documented for this release.
If you installed earlier updates, only the new updates contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.2061​

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues in this update​

IT adminsUsing provisioning packages on Windows 11, version 22H2 (also called Windows 11 2022 Update) might not work as expected. Windows might only be partially configured, and the Out Of Box Experience might not finish or might restart unexpectedly. Provisioning packages are .PPKG files which are used to help configure new devices for use on business or school networks. Provisioning packages which are applied during initial setup are most likely to be impacted by this issue. For more information on provisioning packages, please see Provisioning packages for Windows.

Note Provisioning Windows devices using Windows Autopilot is not affected by this issue.

Windows devices used by consumers in their home or small offices are not likely to be affected by this issue.		If you can provision the Windows device before upgrading to Windows 11, version 22H2, this will prevent the issue.

We are presently investigating and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

No problems found after the August, 2023 patch-Tuesday, but CBS seems to be showing that Windows 11 22H2 messes up the Bluetooth files in between updates, even when there was no corruption report after the July patch-Tuesday!

But when I checked before the updates were even ready, CBS insisted corrupted Bluetooth files again!

The Bluetooth file corruption is quite common, sfc scannow fixes it

Interesting. I had taken the Preview of this CU on my tester (11-non-compliant) the other day. Didn't take it on my main machine (11-compliant). This morning, the compliant showed the white Search blank in Start again. No idea why. Tried ViveTool; no luck. Took the CU this afternoon on both. Search still white on main; still black on tester. Tried ViveTool again on main. Worked. Black Search bar in Start on both again.

What gives, MS???

This was a very short update (5 minutes to install):

KB5028948 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1
Also DISM online and SFC completed successfully in less than 5 minutes.
Everything seems to be working OK, fast response, no issues so far.

my Win11 install is about 1 month old, after the last preview update I did a system file check and cbs files showed three Bluetooth driver issues(fixed them).
Now these were the same MS-installed drivers, since I don't use Bluetooth I didn't update them.

Looks like a concerning Microsoft bug. It's ironically less likely to occur with 21H2. While it looks guaranteed to occur with 22H2.

I don't remember such issue in my very-early days of Windows 11.

There was no failure with any Windows updates during and afterwards. It's like the files were stealthly reverted in a random amount of days, after the previous patch-Tuesday!

I have same error that seem to happen when last two updates.
My 980Pro is also 1 month old.

I'm actually trying to manually sync some stuff where there was a sync failure reported.

Looks like the WinRE is out of date, indeed!
