Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.2061

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues in this update

Microsoft is not currently aware of any issues with this update.

How to get this update

Before installing this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates and Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions.

Install this update

Release ChannelAvailableNext Step
Windows Update and Microsoft UpdateYesNone. This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update.
Windows Update for BusinessYesNone. This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update in accordance with configured policies.
Microsoft Update CatalogYesTo get the standalone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)YesThis update will automatically sync with WSUS if you configure Products and Classifications as follows:
Product: Windows 11
Classification: Security Updates

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

Still failing to initialize Network drivers in safe mode when trying to run Safe mode with Networking.
Some network adapters still work in safe mode, but more and more are failing to initialize with (Code 37)
In this machine both the Ethernet and Wi-Fi fail with the same error.

Exceptionally slow installation on my brand-new Asus laptop: >60 minutes also received KB5031217 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework. Now on OS Build 22621.2283. Ran Dism Online and SFC /scannow that like last month found and repaired corruption: Missing Current State value for package: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-LA57-FoD-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.22621.1, force absent so at least it can be re-installed. Ran SFC again and OK.

Weird, where is that new site located? .ee?

.ee is the internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) of Estonia, operated by the Estonian Internet Foundation.

Estonia has a decent (on the whole) internet infrastructure baring any "accidentally on purpose by mistake" Russian ordnance smashing up critical bits of it. However it has decent outlet via Finland so should be reasonably robust.

Cheers

I've seen some of you use these commands, once the download is finished and (I assume) after the system reboots:

1) sfc /scannow
2) Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
3) DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth

The order should be like this, right?

1) DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth
2) sfc /scannow (which restores the values downloaded by the previous command, if I understand correctly)
3) Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup (To clean files downloaded by Windows update download)

Thank you! Have a great day

Yes, you understand correctly. In fact, unless your WinSxS component store was already corrupted before the update then Dism's RestoreHealth step is redundant. The few times SFC finds errors after a CU they are invariably of the 'permissions/ownership set twice' type, ones that it can fix without needing to refer to the component store.

I also like to see just how much was cleaned up so I use one other command before and after '.../StartComponentCleanup'.
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
(compare the before and after values of 'Actual Size of Component Store')

    Win11 Home 22H22 22621.2283 9/12/23
Build 22621.2283, 2nd time in 2 days that it freezes without any error indication. Only way out power off and back on.
SFC /scannow is not finding any issues. 😜🤷‍♂️
Anybody else freezing with this latest update?
