Voice Access​

  • New! This update adds commands to correct words that voice access fails to recognize. You can say “correct [text]” to correct specific text. Use “correct that” to correct text you last dictated. The correction window appears with a list of words labelled with numbers. You can say “click [number]” to select any word from the list. If you choose a word from the window, that word replaces the text you want to correct. You can also say “spell that” or “spell out” to dictate the correct spelling of text. You get suggestions as you spell out the text. All the words and phrases that you spell are added to the Windows dictionary. They will appear as suggestions when you try to spell the text again.
  • New! Voice access now works right when you start your PC. You can turn on voice access from the accessibility flyout box on the Lock screen. To turn it on automatically, go to Settings > Accessibility > Speech. Choose the setting to “Start voice access before you sign in to your PC.” Then you can use voice access to sign in to your PC and access other areas on the Lock screen.

" Co-pilot is not available in the EU " .................its installed (?) , after KB5030651 and KB5030310. :oops:
Its visible in the taskbar , only thing I can do with it is ; opening Edge ( did not find any other functions )
Im on Win11 in the Netherlands and on a "unsupported" PC.

Maybe I should remove this " Copilot " , its garbage , has no functions ..............

Or you can wait. But if it is the same as with Cortana for the Netherlands (that was NEVER supported for Dutch-based Windows), you certainly can remove it safely already :).

This is one of the reasons why I support ChatGPT, and not Copilot.

Well, guess this laptop needed a good night rest because the weird problem went away this morning! Sometimes things just don't make sense. Maybe I did too many updates too close to each other. Usually, I do the regular updates and then check things out before doing another like Edge update. But, I'm getting old and forgetful. :cool:

It is, for all intents and purposes, a beta release, that you have to manually allow to install. But it is also being rolled out gradually, so even checking the box and then checking for updates may not have it populate immediately in WU.

For the KB5030509 update to see if it is installed, you have look under "Other Updates" (scroll with your mouse untill you find it) , and expand this box. The KB5030509 update is not visible under "Quality Updates".

There is a configuration update there, but it has on KB#, just a date of 9/16/2023. Clicking "Learn more" takes me to a May 24, 2023, update.

Thanks, that answers the question. I'll just wait a while before chasing it down.

Edit;
I see I do have the KB 0509 after restarting the PC (again) - again, because I'd did it an hour ago for a .NET Framework up. Anyway, now the KB is showing in "Other Updates". I also have the Co-Pilot icon. Also, my search icon changed from a magnifying glass to "C"??? 🤷‍♂️

For the time being, this update is not available in European Union countries, but you can access Copilot this way:
Win + R keys and type the following "microsoft-edge://?ux=copilot&tcp=1&source=taskbar" without quotes. You can create a shortcut with this command to run Copilot because when it closes you will have to repeat the process. A screenshot of mine running below.

Further to my previous post, to create a shortcut to Copilot on the desktop, right-click on a free area of the desktop, select New ---> Shortcut. In the window that opens, enter the code microsoft-edge://?ux=copilot&tcp=1&source=taskbar and click next, name it Copilot or whatever you like and the shortcut will appear, just click on it and Copilot will open.
