Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.2700 (KB5031452) to the Beta Channel.

REMINDER: All Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will now be on the same build (Build 22635.xxxx) via an enablement package. For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle (shown in the image below) to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your device over time once they are ready.

Why does it take 10 minutes to install a BETA update, whether its a simple update/fix like this one, or one that's fairly detailed?

A little fix like this update should download and install really fast....NO?

SFC =Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. DISM/.../.../restore health = completed successfully.

I've got hundreds of applications and games installed. I'll test at least a dozen programs with each build. My testing of the builds is mostly confined to how well the OS supports all the third-party software I have installed and wish to run. I have no problems that make themselves known in application crashes or failures to run the software, etc. However, if I do have a problem I will post about it, even if I apparently figured out what caused it, these days.

I've had cases in which a build runs fine, supports all the software I throw at it, is perfectly stable--but when I run sfc /scannow, it reports corrupted files which it repairs. I usually never run SFC or DISM restore until I have an obvious problem.

I think that allowing Windows to install my hardware drivers is the main source of system instability for myself and most people. Accordingly, I have set Group Policy to never automatically install device drivers, and I go to the website of each manufacturer of my peripherals and download the latest drivers myself to be assured of having the best drivers possible (monitor, GPU, motherboard bioses and devices, printers, etc.) The setting in GP is carried forward each build--as I always do upgrades and stay away from clean installs if at all possible.

So that's what I mean when I say I have "no problems"...:wink:

My CU installs--upgrades through Windows Update--rarely take longer than 4 minutes from initial reboot to installed desktop. I install them from/to a PCIe4 NVMe drive partition. But I don't count downloading, of course, as I can do other things while that's happening. Are you counting downloading, or are you just talking about disk install speed & reboot time?

Just got the 22635.2700 update (yes, a few days late - just reformatted and rejoined Insider program after being gone for almost a week).

Installed fine with no issues on SFC/DISM afterward.

Hi All,
As of today I'm still in the beta insider release channel, but I've been seriously debating about switching to either the developer or canary channel just to get a taste of how much of a difference there currently is between either one of those builds and the beta channel. If I didn't like what I was seeing and it was still withing the allotted time period I could always go back to my previous build. And if worse came to worse I could just re-install the beta build which I've found from my previous experience that my computer runs better than it did previously. By the way and while I'm thinking about the subject I came across what I've found to be an interesting piece of software: GitHub - builtbybel/BloatyNosy: Experience Windows 11 in your way!

If you like bugs, the Dev channel is your thing. And if you really, really like bugs, the Canary channel was made for you...;) I switched to beta from Dev a long while ago because I got tired of builds so buggy my games and applications would often not run at all. Accordingly, the Canary channel was never tempting. The beta channel, which Microsoft recommends, btw, is the one with far less experimental, half-baked software that will never make it into Windows. It depends on what you like. For me, Windows is primarily interesting as a supporting gateway to the 3rd-party programs I like and choose to run. But if you just enjoy giving Microsoft feedback on buggy builds, then Dev or maybe even Canary might be your thing...;) If you choose to go Dev or *shudder* Canary, do yourself a favor and use a back-up program to back-up C:\ running a beta build that you like and are happy with, because sometimes the automatic restore-a-build won't work properly--and then you are hosed if it is your sole method of restoring. I use Macrium Reflect, but there are others.

I went ahead and installed the latest canary version on my lenovo laptop because it's not my main computer, time will tell I guess as to how I find it to perform for me.

I've been meaning to ask, is there a way to restore just the OS without overwriting apps and their data using Macrium Reflect?

I tried installing DEV on an unsupported HP with 7th GEN CPU. Won't install. Even tried with USB stick. No go. Stuck on BETA instead. Works well though.

I personally would not recommend installing Canary Build on a Lenovo laptop, whether it's a second or main system, way too many glitches and if it crashes completely that's that lol.

Would rather run it as a dual-boot system on a second drive or in a Virtual Machine, much safer that way. Had a bad experience running Canary on my Lenovo laptop already so i prefer to play it safe.

I run Beta, Dev and Windows 10 in VHDX and it is much better for me.

Just my honest opinion here but if it runs efficiently for you, congrats then.

Been running both DEV & Canary as dual boot with each OS on its own partition (each has its own SSD) on my main box.
I run Beta on it as a VM as well.

On my second older machine, I only have Canary.
I have never experienced any major issues, but I would not recommend it to a Windows novice.
Been an insider since its inception.
