Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4880 (KB5052100) to the Beta Channel. Please note this build will only be provided to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who did not upgrade to receiving updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2.

Changes in Beta Channel builds and updates are documented in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update*) and then new features, improvements, and fixes rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel. Known issues​

[File Explorer]​

  • We’re investigating an issue causing File Explorer to be very slow to close for some Insiders when closing using the X button. This may also impact the other title bar buttons.

[Settings]​

  • There is a known issue where the two new enterprise-specific device info and accessibility preferences cards are showing up on non-managed PCs signed in with Microsoft accounts.

Paint Update​

We are rolling out an update for Paint (version 11.2412.271.0 and higher) to Windows Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview Channels. In this update, we are introducing the Copilot menu to Paint where you can access all the intelligent features which help you complete your image generation and editing tasks faster. Clicking on the Copilot icon from the toolbar will expand into a drop-down menu where you can easily access the features Cocreator, Image Creator, Generative erase, and Remove background. Note that Cocreator is only available on Copilot+ PCs. Within the dropdown, each feature will also include a short description to help you choose the right tool.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel​

  • Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 via an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx).
  • Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your PC over time once they are ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.

I hopped to the 26120.3073 release when it was offered to the beta channel. I was under the impression updates would be coming out for that, but there have been none since. Do updates to 26120 come much less frequently or is this some sort of aberration? I think there have been 2 updates to 22635 since it and 26120 were simultaneously offered to the beta insiders channel.

That's the million dollar question. I also hopped to 26120.3073 but it was during 22635.4870 which was the first update as 26120.3073 was offered after 22635.4805 was out. So 22635.4880 which is the one today is the 2nd update as you mentioned. Perhaps Microsoft is trying to determine what versions to give the Beta and Dev channels as they are both on 26120.3073.

Still the wrong description of the file explorer closing problem in the blog, it is not a delay, it is a logic mistake. 🤷‍♂️
It now requires a Click + hover away instead of just a click on the red X.

The bug was added when they retrofitted the labels under the icons in the context menu. 😂🤷‍♂️

Yes, the 1st case requires a RESTOREHEALTH to repair the components.
"No component store corruption detected" means there is nothing that needs to be repaired, everything scanned is good.

Everything is fine on this machine below. There was nothing to repair. 😉

Regardless, I always do the RestoreHealth next so the end result will be the same.

There is a big difference on the RESTOREHEALTH in the 2 cases.
When it has Repairable components, RESTOREHEALTH sits for a long time at 62.3% while repairing and then eventually finishes at 100% successfully. (Or it could fail too).
When there is nothing to repair it quickly ends to 100% without the long pause at 62.3%.
You can see the difference if you are watching the process in the 2 cases. 😎😂🤷‍♂️

And, if there is nothing to repair, there is no need to do RESTOREHEALTH. 😉

This is still the time window when the BETA and DEV for 24H2 are the same Build. (26120.3073).
Who knows when they will close that window and have 2 separate Builds for the two 24H2 channels?
Also, there is no indication yet on when Beta for 23H2 (22635.xxxx) will end. 😂🤷‍♂️
