Agree. It’s like so many people use vivetool and testing windows with vivetool is not the same, IMO!

I'd imagine that Vivetool's File Explorer three dot fix, may have been the cause of my absent START menu and Taskbar.
But I've done so many Vivetool tweaks in the past 2 years or so, that together they may have caused the no Taskbar, etc. problem.

I even experimented with a few Vivetool tweaks.

Since I did the In-Place upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11, a couple days ago... I've added all my tweaks back in except the Vivetool tweaks... and I still have the START Menu and Taskbar.

When the Preview update comes around the end of the month... we'll see what happens.



I also saved the backup I made right after the In-Place upgrade... before I added ANY personalizations. Just in case.

For those that don't want to read the whole topic...

The April 25th and the May 13th updates worked, but wiped out my START menu and Taskbar. Explorer tried to restart approx. every two minutes as well.

Desktop shortcuts were fine.

So, I did the following...

1. I restored my May 13th Windows 10 backup, to my Windows 11 SSD.
2. Then did an In-Place upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11.
3. This got me to 26100.2033
4. I did whatever updates WU wanted to do, which got me to 26100.4061
5. Then started re-applying all my tweaks, except the Vivetool tweaks.
6. At various steps along the way, I made fresh backups.

That's where I am currently. :-)

Which feature id(s) where you using for the 3 dots fix?
MS took an eternity to roll out the final official fix for that problem.
Before that, the easy workaround was by just disabling 51960011 which is the one that added the bug in the 1st place.
As far as I know, that did not cause any other side effect in this build, or any other builds. It is currently enabled in the ImageDefault.
I just tried disabling it in Build 26100.4061 and it still does not cause any problem. 🤷‍♂️

The same ID number.
When MS first fixed the 3 dot problem... the Vive ID # didn't cause any problems, so I left it alone.

I've done that with a lot of Vive ID #'s ...just left them alone.

I think they finally started eating each other. :D


And no... we're not gonna discuss this for three hours... I'm old. :-)



I wish there was a vivetool command that ONLY showed the ID #'s that I "changed" from their defaults.
The vivetool /query command shows ALL the ID#'s, not just the ones I changed. :(

If you changed the IDs without specifying the priority they will be set with Priority : User (8). That way you could know the ones you changed. 😎🤷‍♂️

On Top Card, DDR5 frequency always shows base frequency. Actually 6000 MHz with EXPO Enabled.

I just went through the whole list I don't see ANY... User (8)
I don't think I used any Vivetool numbers on Windows 10, so they probably won't show on this Win 11 list.

This certainly illustrates the issues that can arise in "tweaking" Windows with 3rd party programs. I do some tweaking as well, but it can come back to bite you. :lmao:

I got in Store System->Advanced on Windows 10 Pro (Stable) , but not on Windows 11 Home (Stable). It's for Pro edition and above ?

BTW, these new features I didn't see in 26100.XXXX :
1) Share file from jump list in Taskbar (In Recommented files in Start menu it's works).
2) CPU utility in Task Manager.
3) Phone link in Start menu.

The issue below started with this recent Win update.

I'm getting this for every MS Store app that downloads an update. Happens for every single one, every single time. As far as I can tell, the apps download and install correctly.

Any ideas what this could be?

An example below - always under "applications" in event viewer:

The description for Event ID 2562 from source Microsoft-Windows-AppXDeploymentServer/Operational cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

I would remove CoPilot using Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Uninstall
If you want it installed, then re-install it from the Store.

The folks here would probably suggest you check for errors first by starting a command prompt and running these in sequence. They may take some time to run. Run the Command Prompt as Administrator:

1) Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth
2) Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /scanhealth
3) Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth
4) sfc /scannow
5) Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
6) Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

That will take a little time to run but will clean up your system and hopefully eliminate any core issues.

Thanks man. I’ve tried SFC and restored health, but I haven’t tried the full command list. I’ll give it a go tomorrow.

Also, this does this for ALL apps via MS store. Copilot was just the example. Think it’s harmless because apps still install and update as normal.

TBF, I think it’s just another weird thing that was broken by a CU. No worries as it’s not affecting my use case.

One other thing - all of the DISM commands complete without issue, but when I run

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

It gets to 70% and then says complete. Not sure if that helps diagnose anything?

Well the update to 4061 didn't go well in my case. 1ste try gave me an installation error - 0x800f0983. Did everything to repair that. And then [HRESULT = 0x800f0991 - - PSFX_E_MISSING_PAYLOAD_FILE] again and again. Got fed up by this and did a In Place install. That went quick. Some repairing afterwards and everything was ok again. Looking at the packages themself finally a descent clean SxS store. 1742 and 4061 only. That's better then 3915 where only a few were called 3915 (4x) and the rest was 3910 (1x) and 3012 (56x). The next big update? I rather download the whole package from Microsoft than that terrible slow proces of updating. Still have no clue what it was missing. PSFX_E_MISSING_PAYLOAD_FILE. PSFX_E_xxxx is a know error and MS have a few of them but this error? Nope...... Unexplained......
