Insider KB5068860 Windows 11 Insider Canary build 28000.1199 (26H1) - Nov. 18

UPDATE 12/09:

 Windows Insider Blog:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28000.1199 to the Canary Channel. (KB5068860)

What’s new in Build 28000.1199

[General]

  • This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel

  • The builds we release to the Canary Channel represent the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows. Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Many features in the Canary Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • Some features may show up in the Dev and Beta Channels first before showing up in the Canary Channel.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.
  • To get off the Canary Channel, a clean install of Windows 11 will be required. As a reminder – Insiders can’t switch to a channel that is receiving builds with lower build numbers without doing a clean installation of Windows 11 due to technical setup requirements.
  • Check out Flight Hub for a complete look at what build is in which Insider channel.
Thanks,
Windows Insider Program Team

...older Canary builds.
Means? Which one precisely?
And I asked this in comparison with the retail/stable channel 25H2, in terms of performance & stability.

It seems that it is just an update, not an upgrade, thus it keeps failing me.

and what about performance & stability compared to the main/stable/retail 24H2/25H2 channel?
Have you noticed any error/lag or anything?
It's virtually the same build but does not have the latest Dev enhancement such as dark dialog boxes, Repair/new Restore Point, Explorer quicker launch etc.
I also have been unable to access my phone settings via the option Mobile Devices. It actually crashes the dialog box.
So, there is no phone listed in Explorer directory tree.
I have noticed that attempting to move from Dev to Canary results in a rollback to Dev.

Besides that, I find it odd that you should look for stability in that branch, it is not recommended as a daily driver by MS.

Means? Which one precisely?
And I asked this in comparison with the retail/stable channel 25H2, in terms of performance & stability.
26H1 is running as good as all of the older Canary builds. I run 25H2 on my PowerSpec B746 and as I mentioned 26H1 on my PowerSpec G156 and both builds have been running very stable for me. My main complaint about the Canary builds is that they are not always the latest and greatest builds that I thought they would be. Meaning that some of the newest features get released to other Insider rings first. If you want to know if 26H1 is safe to use as a daily OS, that depends on what risk your willing to take. I was willing to take the risk and was running the Canary builds on all of my computers. Having up to date backup images I knew I could always roll back if needed. I only switched the B746 to the released builds because I was getting bored with the progress of the updates the Canary builds are getting.

Have you noticed any error/lag or anything?
No, not really any noticeable performance differences. I multi-boot this machine with RTM 25H2 as it's main OS and Insider builds as native boot .vhdx. Stability seems the same as running 25H2 on the same hardware.

my laptop just finished this update, had to install it manually, took a long time, froze at 69% for like an hour but then completed successfully!
then it installed a security update, that installed fine as well! i was on build 27982, now im on 28000. i wasn't aware of the manual install before today, but because of my older hardware, theres a chance i might be doing manual installs more often from now on.

Surprisingly, this is one of the most stable Builds I've had in a long time!
Aside from the minor glitch discussed here.

Since you guys are running it on your current PCs: isn't the 26H1 branch meant for Copilot ARM PCs?

If not having new features isn't a concern, you could install a community script to receive only security updates. Your current build would be frozen for two years like LTSC, only without the volume licence hassle. Thoughts?
