Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28000.1340 to the Canary Channel. (KB 5072032)

What’s new in Build 28000.1340​

[General]​

  • This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.
  • This update is beginning to enable some more of the new features and improvements originally released with the October non-security preview update for Windows 11, version 24H2 and 25H2.

[Administrator Protection]​

[Storage]​

  • Fixed an issue which could cause some Storage Spaces to become inaccessible or Storage Spaces Direct to fail when creating a storage cluster.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel​

  • The builds we release to the Canary Channel represent the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows. Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Many features in the Canary Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • Some features may show up in the Dev and Beta Channels first before showing up in the Canary Channel.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.
  • To get off the Canary Channel, a clean install of Windows 11 will be required. As a reminder – Insiders can’t switch to a channel that is receiving builds with lower build numbers without doing a clean installation of Windows 11 due to technical setup requirements.

You need a specific sequence to reproduce the problem after latest updates.
Open explorer set for Home in Light or Dark mode then switch mode to the opposite of what it was set when you opened explorer, then use the + sign to add a tab.

That doesn't make sense. Why would I or anyone for that matter want to do that. IMO, if it was happing normally and not by making unnecessary changes to the settings I don't see this as a bug.

We do that for debugging. 😉
It is a bug that they tried to fix, but they did not fix it properly. Also, if you open to This PC, it fails without changing color mode. 😵‍💫🤬🤷‍♂️
Open to This PC in Dark mode and then click on the + sign to add a tab.
Before latest updates this was working fine in previous Canary Build, but not anymore. 🤬🤷‍♂️

Something must be different in your settings or hardware.
Many users are reporting the problem with flashing when Explorer is open to This PC while in Dark mode and then pressing the + sign to add a new tab.
You can see the animation on my previous post #23.
I get the same problem on 5 different machines with NVIDIA and Intel Graphics.
It is often the case that not all users see the same issues, still it is a proven reported problem by many different users. 😵‍💫🤬🤷‍♂️

No, It's MS's way of saying that they are sorry for all the years they stuck my butt into the B tester ring. :cool: How do you make your videos and get them small enough to upload to the forum? If I can figure it out I'll post a video showing that I don't get the white flash.

I use screentogif, and reduce the size of the area covered, then I just record enough to show the problem and stop the recording.

You can do this using free GIF animation creation tools. I use Premiere Pro to compress and output GIF animations. The reason you don't have a problem might be due to different Windows settings, which doesn't necessarily mean the problem doesn't exist.

I had to abandon Canary, all 28000 updates failed due to insufficient space.
No surprise, 25H2 took 65GB and my previous system partition was 64GB.
Lucky that BIOS allows to clear SSD, since even 25H2 fails to clean install.
Hopefully dumb 11 will be satisfied by selecting old slow SSD as 0 disk.

I just tried switching between dark and light mode while having File Explorer set to open to Home. When I switched from dark to light I got the black flash. When I switched back to dark mode File Explorer worked Ok.

At least you see half of the problem. 😎
It flashes white or black when I click on the + sign to add a tab if I switch mode right after I open explorer with the opposite mode. 🤷‍♂️

Hi, has anyone noticed a big increase with this 26H1 and the first 1199,
my c: drive is approx 56Gb even with the EdgeView app folder 600mb deleted?

PS read some previous posts and see some have 65Gb installs.
