Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Builds 26100.8313 and 26200.8313 (KB5083631) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, versions 24H2 (Build 26100) and 25H2 (Build 26200).

This update is available through two release phases: gradual rollout and normal rollout. A gradual rollout delivers an update in phases, so features reach devices over time instead of all at once, meaning availability varies by device. A normal rollout is the broad release to all eligible devices at the same time, usually when it reaches general availability (GA).

  • [Display and graphics] Improves persistence and availability of color profile options for supported monitors.
  • [Kiosk mode] Simplifies configuration for allowed packaged apps in kiosks when Microsoft Edge is one of the allowed apps.
  • [General Performance] Improves performance of launching startup apps after boot (apps which display under Settings > Apps > Startup).
  • [General Reliability] This update brings underlying changes to help improve explorer.exe reliability, including on login, when interacting with taskbar flyouts and task view, when unpinning items from File Explorer’s Quick Access, and more.

Normal rollout​

This non-security update includes quality improvements. The following summary outlines key issues addressed by the KB update after you install it. Also, included are available new features. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change.
  • [Secure Boot] With this update, Windows quality updates include additional high confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates. Devices receive the new certificates only after demonstrating sufficient successful update signals, maintaining a controlled and phased rollout.
  • [Windows Security] This update improves event logging related to CVE‑2024‑30098 by including the name of the affected application. This change makes it easier to identify applications that rely on smart card certificates and may need updates following recent security changes.

ID:46719714 (CFR Flags: 3316346509 > Enabled) fixes the white flashes in Dark mode but not the black flashes after switching to light mode. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️
This one still fails just after switching from dark mode to light mode. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, this feature id was disabled with priority:5 and had to enable it to see what it fixed.
Looks like just a partial fix for the white flashes in dark mode, not affecting black flashes in light mode. 😵‍💫🤷‍♂️

B.T.W. it is already enabled with "Priority : Service" on Canary build 28020.1863.

So far I am liking 26200.8313. The File Explorer was already faster before I ran the Vive Tool commands . Firefox is even faster.

Disabling logging for this GUID in Event viewer suppresses the error. Hopefully the next update will fix it.

Upgraded on two computers (1 non-compatible laptop, 1 desktop) and no issues so far. I activated those 4 features. On my laptop (i5 7500) I don't know if it's a placebo effect but explorer does indeed seem faster.

Hello everyone. All you need to do is edit the AppPrivacy.adml file.


NOTE. This is for the United States English version. Other languages will have similar instructions.

1.Locate the file in the \path\PolicyDefinitions\en-US folder.

2.Make a backup copy of AppPrivacy.adml in case that you make a mistake when editing the file.

3.Open the file in a text editor. (If you use *notepad.exe, turn on the Status Bar on the View menu.)

4.Locate line 580

5.And add the text below;

I updated to 8313 in a VM, applied "2026-04 Preview Update (KB5083631) (26200.8313) Override 14 - Enable All Features.reg" and restarted, but I see no change in regards to folder view consistency.

I haven't seen this change either, and I haven't found a CFR ID related to this feature.:(
