Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.8148 (KB 5083825) to the Beta Channel.

Changes in Beta Channel builds and updates are documented in two buckets: new features, and improvements (including notable fixes) that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update*) and then new features, and improvements (including notable fixes) rolling out to everyone in the Beta Channel.   • Improved performance of launching startup apps after boot (apps which display under Settings > Apps > Startup).
  • Fixed an issue resulting in certain apps not being able to sign in recently, citing an internal connection issue when internet was actually connected.
  • Fixed an underlying crash impacting some Insiders’ ability to print with the latest flights.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel​

  • Updates are based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package (Build 26220.8148).
  • Many features are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • The desktop watermark shown at the lower right corner of the desktop is normal for Windows Insider pre-release builds.
  • For Windows Insiders who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update*. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your PC over time once they are ready.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.

Update went smoothly and error free although three reboots again which seems to be becoming the norm with the latest builds anymore.

Before shutting down I thought I'd check the forum and found this update just coming out. When I ran W update it immediately started downloading it. After 5 minutes it is still at 0%. Now at 8 minutes, it is ready to restart.

26220.8148....failed three times...refused to download, so I used "Use Windows update to fix install problems" and it failed again--no download--so I hit retry once again and this time it began downloading, and now it's stuck on 99%, and I'm hoping that last percentage will download so I can install...I'll come back and edit this if it ever installs.

EDIT: I hit the "Pause for a Week" button and when it paused, I hit the "Resume" button about a minute later, and that process seemed to undo whatever bottleneck there was in the Win Update pipe that stuck the download at 99% after failing three times, and then the download immediately finished, and the installation went like a clock all the way through...;) So far, so good with 26220.8148.

Just curious, which insider channel do you show enrolled in now, Beta or RP as that may be a factor. My beta install was smooth as silk.

Well, I'm still in Beta, and this is the first failure to download I've had in long while...I kind of think it's a fluke. I thought I was fairly safe against a download failure, and then there it was...;) Figures. No big deal, though, as I hit the "Pause for a Week" button and when it paused, I hit the "Resume" button about a minute later, and that process seemed to undo whatever bottleneck there was in the Win Update pipe and the download immediately finished, install went fine all the way through...;)

Really odd the repair install didn't work either, that almost always works.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26220.8148 (Beta 25H2) and build 26300.8155 (Dev 25H2), Microsoft is developing a hidden Feature Flags page in Settings to make it easier to turn on or off hidden features. If you don't have this (Option One) available in these builds yet and would like to try it now, then you can use the vivetool /enable /id:60911173 command with Option Two to enable this.
