Windows Secure Boot certificate expiration
Important
Secure Boot certificates used by most Windows devices were set to expire starting in June 2026. Microsoft has been updating these certificates on PCs and non-managed business devices for the past months. Devices that haven’t received the newer certificates will continue to start, and standard Windows updates will continue to install. We will continue to install the newer certificates via Windows updates in the coming months.

End of updates
Windows 11, version 24H2 Home and Pro editions will reach end of updates on October 13, 2026. Devices running these editions will no longer receive fixes for known issues, time zone updates, technical support, or monthly security and preview updates containing protections from the latest security threats. Enterprise and Education editions remain supported until October 12, 2027.

To stay protected and up to date, we recommend you upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11.

Improvements​

This update includes improvements from the following previously released updates:

How to get this update​

Before you install this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates.

Deployment​

If you deploy dynamic updates such as this update to an existing Windows image, ensure the boot.stl file is included as part of the installation media. Failure to include the file might prevent devices from successfully starting from the installation media and can result in error code 0xc0430001.

Note
The boot.stl file is used during Secure Boot validation and must match the Windows version and architecture of the image you are updating.

To ensure the boot.stl file is included as part of the installation media, do one of the following:
  • Use the Update WinPE script to update an existing Windows image. (Recommended)
  • Manually copy the boot.stl file from the device Windows\Boot\EFI folder to the corresponding folder on your installation media before deploying the update.

I too have the issue with dism /restorehealth. I created a new ISO using UUP Dump and used the install.wim as the source for dism. The restorehealth scan completed successfully and dism /checkhealth was happy. I ran dism /scanhealth, and it flagged the repaired files as corrupt. I have noticed that all the so-called corrupt files are reverse differential files, not actual system files. I hate to do an inplace repair with the ISO, since I have a lot of customized registry entries, modified system tasks, and modified service start-up settings configured, on top of custom WDAC profiles. Not sure how much of that would survive.

Update went fine, no issues so far. Got the new dark theme sound changes. So far only I've only noticed it for USB connect/disconnect. Not a fan, but not sure how to disable it via settings. Otherwise all good.

Same problem here. I used:

Code: 
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\Users\My user name\Desktop\W11\sources\install.esd:6 /LimitAccess

And I got the same error message.

I tried a windows update repair install and that failed.

Looks like I'm stuck. I'll revert back to the last fully working backup without any errors, try an in-place repair using that and then install the update to see what happens.

I've updated the computers.

I first ran Repair-WindowsImage -Online -CheckHealth to see if I needed to repair with Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth. I will always do this before updating in case RestoreHealth malfunctions after an update.

This update from start to finish was normal. Still getting TPM-WMI error event ID 1796 and Netwtw10 warning event ID 6062 in the event viewer. TheNetwtw10 warning event ID 6062 is due to HP not updating the Intel network adapter. Other than that, SFC and DISM found no errors. Like anything else; only time will tell if this was a clean update. :rolleyes:

I had that exact same issue with Build 26200.8973, and it looks like Build 26200.9168 is going to repeat the issue. I even did a repair install when DISM couldn't fix the image, and I still got the same error with DISM. The repair is running right now on 26200.9168, and I have the same problem with 26200.9168 even after a repair install and then the 26200.9168 update.

I'm liking Win11 less and less, never had these kinds of persistent issues with Win10 and I ran it forever!

Are you doing a repair install from Windows Update or an ISO? When I had that DISM error on a beta build only the ISO repair install fixed it as the needed files weren't in the WU repair.

Did you run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup, restart the computer, and then run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth`? That worked for me when I encountered the error with `RestoreHealth`.

I've heard that worked for some people, sadly wouldn't work for me the one time I had it.

Yes, it's a hassle. I think it looks like error 0x800f0991 from Windows Update a few months ago—I had to run a Windows Update repair twice back then.

I just set up my own custom sound scheme under control panel Hardware and Sound/Sound section. You can set existing sounds already in your Windows/media folder or add your own wav files to use. You can also just disable them from the same control panel sound section.

I tried a windows update repair install and that failed.

Looks like I'm stuck. I'll revert back to the last fully working backup without any errors, try an in-place repair using that and then install the update to see what happens.

The command is slightly incorrect. Based on what I see the command should be (assuming your index number of 6 is correct):

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:ESD:C:\Users\My user name\Desktop\W11\sources\install.esd:6 /LimitAccess
