I have a PC that functions as a server and a media PC.
It's extremely useful to have it go to sleep if no one is accessing it. However, it ignores any access over the network and will go to sleep in the middle of file transfers. Is it possible to keep it awake if someone is reading or writing to the disk in the PC??

When system idle (not used) for a given power policy time limit it will go to sleep, what you can do make sure to open an application or move the mouse crosser make sure system will not go to sleep so if Windows set to sleep 10 minutes every five minutes or so move the mouse crosser that can help but i don't use remote desktop, so this may not work.

There is an open source app called Coffee that will keep the PC awake if the network traffic is above a specified threshold. Once the network activity calms down, the PC will be allowed to sleep again.
